I have a 2008 Classic with a 520 in the dash and 520 at the bow hooked up to a Minn Kota with universal sonar. All of this was installed at the Basscar factory. On the lake yesterday i had numerous problems with the dash and bow units. At the bow and dash i could not get the unit to read bottom even after using different settings. In addition both units would not chart at times. However, later in the day they began to work and then crapped out again. Can anyone help or offer suggestions. Thanks in advance
I am not sure how Bass Cat configures their units from the factory and I am sure they will be on with their suggestions,,But obviously it has to be something in the cabling that both units share….It is really weird that you are having problems with the Sonar, and GPS functions in both units…
the gps worked fine.
Did you have both units on at the same time. This will cause interference with both units. Try only one unit at a time and see if that helps. In the lowrance sonar menu, you can select “stop chart” to stop the sonar, but this will keep the GPS running. Hope that helps. KentKent Charles 2002 Pantera Classic & 200 Yamaha VMax
sometimes if I get the settings way out, Ill go in and reset everything to the factory defaults. There is an option for this in the system setup. It might fix the problem.
you need to have a local electronics shop or maybe yourself check the software in both units. they could be operating on different versions which will cause issues. you can download upgrades from lowrance.
I used to have to power it off and back on to get it to sync with bottom. Same with the dash unit, it would not sync with bottom unless powered off and back on. I replaced the 520 with a LCX 26hd and the problem was solved. FWIW, I did all the Lowrance updates to the 520 and the LCX111c-HD on the dash and it didnt help. Both your units should work together so the answer of interference between two units is incorrect. For me it was an annoyance that I was willing to spend the money to cure. That was replacing the 520…
First have you tried to connect it with only a separate transducer, which would eliminate a meshing with the HumminBird style Universal Sonar. As Scott says, allow them to reset to the Automatic modes, then go from there. After that, then we need to look at the units on a Master Reset, which would require the Lowrance factory support. BCB

You are sending out two sets of sonar signals, and as the sonar returns to the units, they often interefere with each other. This is a common problem with running two units. Most of the time, if sonar interference is occurring, it can be corrected by turning off one of the units. If that solves the problem, there must have been some interference occurring. In a perfect world, all units would work together. However, this is not always the case. Kent Charles 2002 Pantera Classic & 200 Yamaha VMax
