Down is Green like Grass in color. Looks like it is in a connection for sure.
It works at motor an blinker
Found the problem thanks
Great! Hope we helped some.
Low fluid, or air in the system.
Yes, faulty sending unit and the trim is possibly working fine. Thus you are using trim gauge instead of feel and performance to drive the rig.
I have 2007 cougar an down trim does not work at shifter or bow only at the blinker and motor but the up works every where what color do I need to look for that might be loose
Most probably not a problem at all. Your motor might have been in the “tilt” position and when you ran the rpms up it trimmed down because it is designed that way. Cannot run high rpms in the tilt position. Next time trim down until it is in the trim range to load your boat. Google it up for a better explanation.
Dont remove the fill cap unless the motor is tilted all the way up and locked. Open the cap slowly to avoid making a mess. The two outer trim rods have enough pressure to hold the motor up. But when you get into the tilt range, which uses the single central cylinder, it has enough pressure to hold the weight of the motor up, but not any thrust. Itll definitely go down. If you have trimmed that far out to load, you are probably too far. Most trim until the pitch changes (when you go from trim into tilt mode) and stop there.

Jeh and ot are most likely correct!! When i was about 20 yrs of age (young and dumb) friend had a old 85 rude with tilt but no trim. We was in a shallow creek about a 1/2 mile which we used troller to get in. blew up a storm. We wanted out quick. So me being very nieve i told him tilt that rude up ” ill hold it while you ease us out” well the rest is history. It flip me in just like a pendlum!!. So heres a laugh this morning. A true story and a lesson learned for me. The tilt has no holding power. The fluid will just by pass.
P2 we have no way to know how much experience you have with boating and most people know about this when loading their boats. If you are new to boating then you have just learned a little more about boat ownership. If this is the case, then we are just helping you out. That is what this forum is all about and most folks are happy to help. Like my teachers used to say “there are no dumb questions” and if the answers are just basics of boating then so be it. Enjoy your boat.

That “flip” reminds me of a different experience. I bought a new 18 Astro in 1992 with a Merc XR6 (first year it was sold). Had a rope under the cowl. I asked the salesman (whom I knew well) about it and he said these things are easy to crank. We were going for a test run so we got on the lake and he said “pull the cowl and try it”. I pulled the cowl, wrapped the rope around the pulley on top of the flywheel and gave it a yank. Motor backfired and threw me over the transom. Alan thought it was funny as all get out. Asked him to give me a hand getting back in and let him go for a swim also. :)I suppose if you weigh 300 pounds and can bench press 600 pounds, you could yank that thing.
