Need help disconecting a speedometer

I am going to replace the analog speedometer in a 06 (merc opti) sabre with a 1440 flasher.I know I need to pinch off the pito tube (dont know where is best to clamp it off).A quick look under the console at the back of the speedometer, following the other wires it appear as they go with wiring harness and run to the back of the boat. Not sure if the hook into the wiring harness or not.Can I just cut them and cap/tape the ends off?I am not a wiring genius and dont wnat to mess (short) anything else out.ThanksJim Your Signature …

Disconnect it at the rear above the gearcase and plug it there.

Thanks.Now all I have to do is find it under all the other stuff there.Need to wait till there is more light to see it beter, dont want to get the wrong one. There is some wiring there in a tube that is similar to the pito tubeing.JimYour Signature …

It will be exiting the lower gear case right around the shift shaft outlet and lower motor mount. The hose should have a coupling there and goes into the cowling the out the rigging tube to the dash. You should be able to access it at the front of the gear case.
