1240A flasher replacement

Im thinking about replacing my current 1240A flasher with the LCF1440. According to Lowrance, it is supposed to be a direct replacement. Im assuming that it means it will fit exsisting hole. Has anyone done this before? Will the exsisting cable/transducer work? Im not really concerned about the temp part. Theres nothing wrong with the current flasher, just wanted to go digital.

Personally, I liked the old 1240A better, and i never had any problems with those units. I thought they were much easier to read as well. D.

Keep the 1240A unit. Period.

Catman, no matter what anyone else says, definitely replace your 1240A unit ASAP. Do not throw it away though as that would be putting dangerous elements into our landfills. Ship it to me and I will take care of discarding it for you. Those old 1240A units are YUCKY!

To save Basstar the trouble of discarding it for you send to me instead. I could even send you a few Strike King baits, pay shipping, and ah, send you a nice thank you note……… I hate for you or someone else to end up with a YUCKY sonar unit!

Not trying to hijack your post, but, with BC stating that you should keep the unit, was wondering if there any new 1240As out there?? Have 1 now that works but the #s have faded out. Have used a white pen to line them up but it looks ridiculous! Do they still make the 1240As?? AC

I certianly appreciate the offers to take this yukky flasher off my hands. Just goes to show how helpfull these Bass Cat owners are! One thing Ill say is that you can get the truth on this board. I havent decided what im going to do yet. I really never was a “flasher” type. There are 2 on my Pantera and if I decide to replace them Ill certianly let you all know. Im sure someone here would “dispose” of them for me. Thanks for your inputs.

AC, Lowrance does not make them any longer but they can still be found. In addition to ebay, locate any of the Lowrance service centers and you can find them from time to time refurbished. If you want a new unit, give the Vexilar FL-10 a try. I have had excellent success with that unit.

Thanks!!! Ill certainly check those areas out. A lowrance service area, hmmm…might have to make a trip to the Classic and hunt a Lowrance person down. BTW…I have looked at the Vexilar systems. They are very nice. Almost forgot about them. Thanks again. AC
