Wiring at dash?

Ok I have an 08 Cougar Adv. Elite. I have a Humminbird 1197 and 788 at the dash. I also have a CD player/radio. If i run all three it overloads the master power switch and shuts everything off. So I obviously have to much on one wire at the dash? My question is how many hot leads are under there that will be safe to use? Maybe one for each device? Thanks is advance for the info.

If I was gonna run that much Id just tap one direct to the back. Easy to run and no worries.C.O.D. Jr. III

Do you mean run direct from the battery? Or find a wire that is already ran?

I would run power wires directly from battery to unit through the right gunnel. Could put in line fuse in that comes with units back at the battery. Just seems easier to me than trying to figure another totally seperate hot wire. I would email pete at parts and give him a week or so to answer and see if there is another wire that would work better as well if you wanna try to avoid snaking one back there although it only takes about 5 minutes usually with a good wire snake. 1-2 beer job total. I have a rope in there just for this kind of stuff. May run a larger wire up there and use a distribution block to power all three.

Ward not to second guess your speed of drinking but this project took 4 beers. Mainly cause I cant work and drink. Got some large wires(old trolling motor wires) ran. I found a fused distribution block at local marine dealer. Put 3 amp fuses on birds and 10 on radio. Now I wonder do the Birds pull any amps when they are off? Thanks for the help guys!

Im not certain about the units themselves drawing but I know my Lowrance recommended putting an on/off switch on the antennae wire, so I assume the gps puck has a draw of some kind even when the unit is powered off. BUT…..I know what happens when you “assume”.
