Ok so how common is it for the solenoid to stick and not let you back up? The fun part is it seems to have a mind of its own and it only happens when you really need it. *&^%^& It has power to it ! I have metered it from the plug to the solenoid. Plus you can hear it click when you hook it up to 12v Yesterday it happened while backing in my driveway. I set the emergency break with it still in reverse and metered it again and there was power to it. I gave to tong a good smack with a dead blow hammer and it released. Can I get a new one from Parts? and this looks like it will be fun to change out

Are you talking on the trailer? Then Im sure you can get one…. But you might just need to bleed the system….Dan Yonan. ———————————————————

That is fairly common and another reason we did not like disc brakes. Though we must say we have had less problems in more recent years with parts. BCB

The only time have had mine lock up was when I got in a hurry and basically put the truck in reverse before I was stopped and it held the brake pressure in the system when the solenoid actuated, or stopped in a downhill position and the weight of the boat and trailer were applying the brakes before the solenoid engaged trapping the pressure in the system again, both of these senarios will not let you back up the trailer.

No mine only did it once in a while then it got to be more often. seemed to happen at bad times like pulling around to boat ramp then just as you back down the ramp they would be locked or as I was backing in my driveway while the local soccer mom is giving you that glaring look from her mini van. I will tell a trick worth doing. I had a hard time with the key staying in place in the tong so I could back up. I supper glued round magnet to the key and it stays in place while I get back in the truck. makes it allot easier to use by yourself.

Good Idea! You could fasten a magnet to it and keep it under the tongue also.
