What a miserable tournament day! North winds of about 15-20 had the lake rollin! Doug Morrow and his partner Josh Clarke earned a trip to Arkansas to fish for the big vacation in South America. Good luck to both of them!Top 4 PlacesDoug Morrow, Josh Clarke, , 13.07, , ||Phil Addison, Mike Huckman, , 12.49, , ||Doug Swann, Mike Sanders, , 11.59, , ||Jim Ebarb, , , 10.95, , ||Big Bass – Jim Ebarb – 4.70Thanks for all that participated!
I second the miserable conditions. Would lose sight of land when in the bottom of the swells at take off. Elwood and I were able to put together a limit and initially weighed 9.66lb then realized we only weighed 4 of our fish one was still in the livewell, weighed it by itself and weighed 1.38lb giving a total of 11.04lb had we been paying better attention would have edged Jim out and finished in the money. Only negative to my BassCat the valley in the livewell will hide a fish if you get in a hurry. Congrats to all those who fished and returned to weigh in that was an accomplishment in itself. Will be out for redemption at Lake Fork
Ouch! It was definitely nasty conditions. The kind that usually keep me at the camp. It was great meeting all of you.
Yes it was a rough one. Was great meeting you guys and congratulations to the winners.
Sorry for your misfortune, Judge and Elwood. I guess it was lucky for me but hate to beat somebody like that. Similar thing happened to my buddy and me in a Media Bass tourney in his old Stratos. I was responsible for culling all day. At weigh-in, he pulled 4 out of the well and said that was it. I was so pi$$ed at myself for culling 4 fish all day. We got ready to walk up to weigh and happened to hear a splash in the livewell. Thank goodness!! It was great seeing old friends and meeting new people. Toledo Bend and Mother Nature definitely conspired against us and made things tough. I should have had 5 fish. I had one that just barely touched the 14″ line but I was afraid to bring that fish in. Then I lost a big one with about 30 minutes left in the day. Ike would be proud. I didnt give up. Hahahaha!!! With about 15 minutes left, I caught that 4.70. The 14 incher would have moved me just past Doug and Mike. The one I lost would have won it for me. Oh well, thats fishing. I did much better than I even expected after 2 short terrible practice trips. Already looking forward to next year, after some recovery time. Im getting old. My legs and back are so sore from trying to stay on the deck and avoid a cool swim. By about 1:00 my batteries were struggling to keep up. I had to start hiding from the wind. As a matter of fact, my trolling motor was nothing but trouble all day. First, my “nice” G-Force handle came loose (not the first time). I decided to put rope back in. That was fun while rocking and rolling. Then one of the cables under the foot pedal kept jumping off the pulley, primarily when I was buried in grass and trying to turn right. I removed the foot pedal at least half a dozen times to put it back on the pulley. Ive had better days but Ive also had worse. All in all I cant complain since I did get lucky.Last edited by toledobasser on October 21st, 2013, 1:32 am, edited 3 times in total.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
Wild man award definitely has to go to Ronnie F. He came passing us shortly after take off in 4-5ft rollers I saw the whole bottom of his Cougar, the prop and his left rub rail as he passed. I never knew a bass boat could do a barrel roll!!!!!
That boat only has 2 speeds. Just ask Luke. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
Only thing we needed was a larger fire pit !I ended up with the pleasure of Mike Sanders as a partner for the derby, and we had a blast, other than the rogue tsunami wave I took over the port bow that soaked Mike,,,,,, otherwise we got lucky finding a school feeding for a few minutes. As others, I couldnt fish where I wanted.Great group of guys, and all are ready to go again. Remarkable lake with endless possibilities and patterns. That being said,,,, the only thing missing was Sam. We had fun for you buddy. Next year will be better supported and prepared, I promise ! Hope everyone got home safely, and I thoroughly enjoyed being around you all. Great meeting William Bowden and his son Mark, as well as all the other Participants. Also proud to be associated with the GAF & BCB. The weather made us make adjustments but the boats handled the lake easily, WOW what great boats !See yall soon I hope ! ALSO missed Ward, J. Peiserich, my sons, Clump, Dr. Drury, etc,,,,,, but then, yall missed us more !Someone hide the leaf blower from Wayne, please. Thanks Ronnie, Wayne, and Luke for the vittles, they was good !Thank you BCB for the Tshirts !Thank you K2 for the GAF shirt design and hook-up !
