Sabre Jack Plate Question

I am mounting a 6″ jackplate on my Sabre with 150 opti, both 2011 models. Does anyone have knowledge on a good starting point for PTP for a Sabre? Thanks in advance.

My 17 has a Slidemaster 8″ plate on it.Id talk to BCB and see what they recommend. The “regular” Sabre back then was rated for a 175, so I cant imagine why they would say you couldnt put an 8″ on. The new catalog says they come with a Detwiler plate, but mine came with a Slidemaster. I put the 8 inch slidemaster on my 99 Classic , and it really helped the handling . The stock steering cables might work with a 6 inch plate , but the 8 inch would be a bit much . — If youre able to , go to the hydraulic steering system . — You will NOT regret it !!

Start with the slide on the JP even with the outside plate. Someones got a picture somewhere of what Im talking about.

Depending on prop, 3.25″ – 3.5″ PTP would be a good starting spot. Tempest likes to run a bit higher, Fury three-blade a little lower.

Id start at 3.5 inches PTP and go up from there in .5 increments until you either drop water pressure and/or gain rpm without an increase in speed. The drop in .25″ increments. You should be able to run that Bravo higher, but just watch your water pressure.

That’s a big wheel for a 150 Opti. I wish my 150 OptiMax on my Sabre FTD would turn a 24.I’m running a 23 Tempest Plus with the 6” SM with the inner plate at a 1/2” above the outer plate and still have trouble hitting the limiter. Maybe I need to go higher. Must be able to turn a bigger Bravo vs. the Tempest Plus.
