I got Mercury to warranty my 06 opti lower unit last year. They said no to any break in. I did change my fluid at an earlier interval, but they said not required. Pro XS the same?

Mercury warrantied this too. Had a busted pinon gear. Glad to have it fixed and back on the water. Thanks.

We would be easy on it for about 15 or 20 minutes and then hammer it down. BCB

I just had a new lower unit put on the 225 Pro XS and was wondering if there should be some sort of break-in on it and what would the procedure be?

This engine is a 20″ model we believe and a 20″ replacement is required.

Thanks for answering my question. Do I have a choice for the gear ratio or should I not be concerned about it ?

Go 1:75 on ratio as they do make others in high perf.

Tom, I ended up with that blue and yellow PIV that Open Throttle had in 09. I brought it all the way from Mt back to Arizona to fish Lake Martinez in 2010.
