Wanting a smaller boat to fish upper White River around Sylamore, Guion etc for Trout. Would the Phlix fit the bill. Thanks.
They run lower 20s with a 25 hp. You can launch them without a ramp, though hand has not been tried we as aware of. Trailers are driveon. They are more stable than aluminum and mch cooler to fish from. A pivot tongue has never been built for one yet, though could be as could brakes.
Thanks BCB! It sounds like a great little boat. Im hoping to locate a used one soon. Is it rated for at least 2 people?
3 persons rating. The 15″ transom restricts the ratings some, though it was built with the 15″ transom to accomodate those thousands of small motors in garages and storages from 9.9 to 25 hp tiller models.
Im sorry, but for some reason if I try to add a new topic/reply I cant add a message, just a title. Any help on that issue would be appreciated. Im getting ready to put a Hummingbird 797 on my 07 P-2 in the dash. I understand that most are hooking it up with 2 transducers, one on the jack plate the other through the hull. When I was looking at Cabelas I noticed it was not offering a thru-hull option for the 797, only the bigger models. Does that mean I wont be able to use the sonar while running, just when Im putting around? That would be a problem for me. Also, has anyone had expierence with BPS installing these. Is thier customer service for service any good? Thanks, and again, Im sorry for hijacking this topic.
797 units are SI units and the SI transducer must be external mounted. Though the internal one can be on Y cables or on a switch. We suggest a transducer AB switch in the 797. You will be dependent on HumminBird CS as Bass Pro jsut sold you a unit. They are not educated installers. BCB
Thanks BC. Hey, if anyone knows a good guy in the San Antonio area for installation that wont have my boat tied up for weeks, shoot me an e-mail at [email protected]. Thanks, John
Got some more questions about the phelix… Is this boat OK to use for tournament fishing? I see that I can get aerated livewells, but wasnt sure how big the livewell is. Is a recessed foot trolling motor pedal an option? Thanks!
No recess, and the well is center located and could fish an event fine. BCB
In that deeper water it probably would work out just fine. It wont be as good in the shoals on the upper river. BCB
Thanks, I have one spotted with a 25 HP 4 stroke Mercury, Motor Guide tm etc. He said it does not have a live well but has a compartment that could be converted into one some how. He won it in a tournament last March and it has never been in the water. I think I will pick it up tomorrow. Thanks for your help.
Phelix is a great Boat. I have had one for about a year now. The livewell works out great. That little 25 horse 4-stroke is as sweet running an engine as youll ever start. Lots of luck and I hope you like yours as well as I do mine.
We could mount one, though the shorter one is best. The Hamby Light Duty is the easier to install and could require some trimming to make it adhere well, though could be done. We dont install Light Duty Hambys except on Vision Group boats, which are Sabre and Pantera Classic models.
here is a link to a guy that installed a light duty Hambys on his Phelix. I dont know him, just found it on a google search I did a while back http://www.bassfishingnetwork.com/artic … light.html
sorry you have to cut and paste, I cant get the link to work
