If you are in the market for an awesome looking, loaded to the hilt, all the bells and whistles Cougar FTD?? You better call John at Martys Marine. They have an awesome looking one ready to be picked up. I nicknamed it the “stealth”. Check it out on their web site and youll understand why!! (www.martysmarine.com) then hollar at John. When them guys tell you a boat is in good shape and its in great condition, BANK on it.
I feel comfortable in anything over 4 feet. I have taken off in 3 feet of water with no problems. I might be able to take off in less than that but I dont see any reason to try it.
3 feet easily…could probably do less
5 foot take off 3 foot
Depends on how thick the weeds are. I am comfortable running in at least 6-7 feet of clear water between hull bottom and tops of weeds and headed deeper. I normally dont hit it until the boat is an about 4 ft of water with no weeds underneath or in front. Ill still go just a little, back out of it, stop, reverse and back flush any hydrilla or other weeds, then go ahead and punch it. I have an 89 Pantera with an Evinrude 150, if that matters or helps any.Your Signature …
Kent it depends on the amount of fuel Im holding or if my live wells are full but I have got it up in 2 with a light load I just bring my jack-plate up high trim down and hammer it (probably why my prop needs a little TLC) but here in South Louisiana we stay in shallow water. With a tournament load gas and live wells full 3 is about right for me. Also I am running a 27R 3 blade prop I need a 4 blade it should help a little more. Good Luck
5 and 5…….too many stumps around here.
I live in S. Louisiana and fish alot of very shallow water . Ive got on pad numerous times in 2 ft of water with no probs , the prop wont be perfect forever , but nobodys in S Louisiana that fishes alot is !!!!!!!! It does matter how many ppl are in the boat , livewells , and fuel , but I can get up in 2 ft of water with no problems !!!!!!
Before you take off turn the wheel away from the heaviest seat(whos bigger you or your partner?) Get a good hold of steering wheel.Rapidly apply the acclerator after putting in gear.Turn wheel to the quickly as you get up- i.e., point that sucker where you intend to go.2-3 feet deep no problem in a mercury and up in a very short distance….My Evinrude..2-3 feet deep again but I need a 100 yardsBut dont worry I catch up in speed! Practice this in open water first Last edited by clownshoes on April 8th, 2010, 12:59 am, edited 1 time in total.C.O.D. Jr. III
