It looks like there was some sort of silicone used when the battery trays were screwed down in my battery compartment. Is it truly silicone that should be used here, or is there another product? I took the trays out to clean the area, now I need to re-isntall.Thanks,Kent
That is correct. The R & R Aluminum Battery trays are an option and they only come standard in the Jaguar model. Most all Premium models get them as an option, though they check that box to get them. Someone “checked” your boats box for that option.BCB
I just noticed that Basscat has a tray with a web strap on it. Is it alumninum link the bigger trays and does the strap hold up to rough water? Thanks,Mike Coffee
Mike, We dont know if that tray is in stock, though it was a good tray and better than plastic. Sort of a step up from plastic and not as solid as GIL, and top end R & R Aluminum. GIL Makes an aluminum tray also, so watch the pricing.
You remove the L shaped lip bracket at the bottom to accommodate the larger batteries. Dont loose those end piece in case you want to go back at some time.
I too, have an 06 Puma with the battery trays. I took the spacers out and have 4 size 31 batteries in the back. Never worry about having enough battery.
Group 29 is the largest that will fit in the plastic trays, and that is a perfect fit. Once they are in they are not going anywhere !Personally, i like the plastic trays. My experience with the aluminum in all my past boats i had to adjust and pad the areas too close to the battery terminals.
