Batteries are a much discussed topic on here. Everyone has an opinion and there are many success and failure stories regarding various brands. With your engine running you should have 13-14 volts at least. With my Sears battery I typically have 14.6 volts at idle.http://basscatowners.yuku.com/topic/584 … s-from-BCBHighCotton was having issues recently while using an Optima battery and this is the discussion: http://basscatowners.yuku.com/topic/263 … ion?page=1Last edited by toledobasser on October 6th, 2013, 12:36 am, edited 3 times in total.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
Ive got the Sears Die Hard Platinum 31M. Its not cheap and its one heavy son of a gun but it is highly recommended by so many on this board and my Interstate was not holding up. These big Mercs and all the electronics we choose to run require a lot from a battery. A smaller engine does not require as much. Dad runs a smaller Interstate battery in his boat with a 150 and his volts also run around 14.2-14.4 when the engine is running.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
