When I was in Mountain Home at the Owners Invitational, I spun a hub and had to have a couple engine seals replaced when I got back home…so I dropped the boat off last week…I picked the boat up today from a local marine dealership (not a Bass Cat retailer) and after getting the boat home & cleaned up I backed it into the garage to drop it…thats when I discovered apparently between dropping the boat off and picking it up they must have moved it around at some point using their endloader with the Fulton jack still down and hit something with enough force to bend the jack out of the welded hole in the jack plate and severely bent the wheel in addition to bending the metal welded jackplate – thus forcing me to use a rubber mallet to get the jack down – its totally noticeable the wheel is bent. The plastic wheel is all chewed up and ratty maybe from being dragged thru gravel…??? So, other than calling the dealership tomorrow to see what can be done I was wondering if any of the Bass Cat factory guys happen to see this can tell me what jack is standard on an 08 Sabre FTD? The current jack on the boat says Fulton Magnum Series and is rated to 1500lbs. I am thinking its one of the XP15 models: http://www.fultonperformance.com/Jacks/ … -32-08.pdf but not sure which one. In terms of replacing it, I also was wondering if this new Fulton F2 jack would be compatible with the boat (by simply bolting the new jack into place) : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi … 0200742573 It does appear the metal plate that BC welds onto the trailer for the jack plate is a tiny bit bent (like I stated above I have to use a rubber mallet to get the jack up and down now) but I figure if I take the jack off I can use a hammer to get the small piece of metal back flat to allow the new jack to swivel freely…it appears the weld has not be damaged…my father-in-law was a welder for 35 years so I am going to have him take a look and see what he thinks as well. Just wondering about what jack is standard equipment on the 08 Sabre FTD and if that F2 jack I found would work on my boat…? Second, I have one LED trailer light (front facing – yellow) that seems to be “out”. Sometimes its on, sometimes its dimly lit and others its not lit at all…I am not an electrician at all so dont know the first thing about wiring – but it seems all the wires/connections are in place. Is there anything I should check or look for? All the other trailer lights (LED) are working fine… Thanks in advance for any help any of you may be able to provide. If I dont get a response here, I figure Ill just call BCB in the AM and see if I can get a point in the right direction! Tom Hallberg
The trailer jacks can be purchased off the Bass Cat parts site. Whoever moved your boat around drug the jack on the ground and bent it. You can confront the dealer and if theyre honest theyll replace. You have nothing to lose there. Your dim clearance light is a bad connection some where.
Sorry to hear about the boat…I would be giving them a call first thing in the morning as well! Sorry I cant help with the boat, but wiring If you have checked all the connections ground, any splices in the wiring. You may want to check the voltage with a voltmeter. Past that IF all your other lights are working correct, I would lean to the problem in the one clearance/turning light. Im not to familiar with the led lights. If one led goes out could that cause a problem with the whole unit (light)? Hope everything turns out for the best dealing with the boat! Good luck. Steve
Your marker light may be a ground issue. Check the wire coming off it that is connected to a screw. You may find the screw is loose or corrosion on the washer or connection. Tighten the screw and/or clean the connection. Replacing the marker lights are easy and having a couple of spares purchssed thru BCB parts is a good idea for when they go out or get accidentally broken. You have a good plan w/ the trailer jack. Good luck.Last edited by rlb8s on May 20th, 2009, 9:37 am, edited 1 time in total.
Halls1030, Sounds like a wire that may be tweaked, as those LED lights have tiny wires. It could be the ground wire, though we are not sure…
