Here is the real problem you are going to have. Where the cover touches windshield, seat , dock cleat, hand rails or any sharp object the drive is probably going to destroy the cover. The other possibility is the cover and straps being in the wrong place could possibly damage your new boat. I know the forecast for rain sucks cause none of us wants to get our boat wet or all that road grime on it. But a trip to the car wash or letting it dry out for a couple of days is better than a scratch from a strap or cover that wont fit your new boat.
