As anybody add an after market air pressure sensors to your BCB trailer. If so what brand and how well does it work? On a duel axle trailer, I have a problem telling when one tire is very low or flat when going down the road. I have already had to replace a tire that could have possibly been saved if I had known it was going flat.

We like the old fashioned method of a tire gauge once in a blue moon. Unless you develop and obvious leak, this system is pretty fail safe and the tire monitors we looked at added cost, which is fine if you prefer that, and they presented moisture issues from the dunking. There are some air caps that are color coded to show your pressures and we have thought about those. Though we have not tried them yet. Those would show a quick look and tell tale, if they would hold up under the changing pressure and water absorption.

I surely wouldnt want a tire pressure monitor. The ones Ive had on two trucks and a Jeep have driven me nuts. They will come on when its cold, then go off, they will give you a false low pressure reading quite often. They are pretty much a pain as far as Im concerned. Plus they are pretty expensive. The ones for my 2010 Sierra are $75 each plus $125 labor to install. I had one go bad and it was replaced under warranty, but I still saw what it costs.

Second that. Sensors are a pain and are for those not bright enough to check tire pressure once a month. I think it is another mandated regulation to protect us for ourselves. As someone who managed a fleet of 400 plus vehicles I will tell you they are more trouble then they are worth. Toyotas (we had Prius and Highlanders) seemed to be the worse in the fleet.

I agree with you BCB, I always check tires before I leave, but, its those times when youre driving down the road and pickup a nail or cut a tire or in my last case, valve stem failed. From what Im hearing here so far is the monitoring systems are not any good?
