Hello everyone. I have been checking out this site for few weeks while looking for a new boat. Last week I pulled the trigger and ordered a Pantera II. Cant wait till it gets here! Meantime, I have a couple of questions. Since Ill mostly be crappie fishing using minnows, should I get a stand-alone bait bucket for the 5 or 6 dozen Ill take or would it be better to use one of the livewells with something like a Lindy Bait Tamer to hold the minnows. Also, I plan to use more than one rod for fishing the minnows either vertically or under a slip bobber. I want to get rod holders but I dont want to drill any holes in my new pII. Does anyone have any opinion on the Extreme Fishing Concepts rod holder bases that hook onto the cleats. I would probably use them with Driftmaster Lil Duo rod holders. Thanks for you help and I welcome any suggestions.

This is what I use. Insulated bucket with a pump and air stone. Runs on D batteries. Have had great luck with these even in warm weather. http://www.dickssportingg…=CSE:GoogleBase:12144249

I was looking at Crappie.com a couple of weeks ago and there were several pictures of rod holders that attach to the cleats. Some of the rod holders were made for spider rigging. If you run that question over there I am sure you will be given a lot of options.

Thanks Bama and Cape Fear. I ordered a bait bucket and checked out crappie.com. Cape, you are right. Most over there use the holders for spider rigging and anchor the bases by screwing into the gunwale or using c-clamps. There are some good reviews of cleat mounted bases from Extreme Fishing Concepts so I called them. Maynard Edwards, the owner, answered the phone and he spent about 15 minutes discussing what would work best for my PII. I was impressed by his willingness to help and I placed an order. You guys are tops!

Bass Cats catch Crappie too. Thought I would share this one from Saturday. Still catching them shallow.
