Howdy. I recently purchased a 2012 Cougar and I am having problems with the boat getting up on plane. Running a 26 Fury and the boat has a little extra weight from the 2 power poles. Also have a Hydr. Jackplate (Atlas). With not water in live wells, it is taking 6 or 7 seconds to get up on plane. Little longer with water in live wells. I have tried jackplate at various heights and this helps some, but the boat seems very sluggish getting up on plane. Anyone had similar issues or does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks as always.

Need.motor.brand. could be throttle position, could be a number of things. Also where are.you, particular for.altitude infoC.O.D. Jr. III

Ward could be right on the throttle position, especially if its a hot foot and the stop is not allowing full throttle which is common. Some Fury props came with PVS plugs which must be removed and the plate brackets for a power pole are sometimes able to drag which reduces hole shot. Plus the swing weight off the rear which reduces hole shot in all cases, some worse than others.

Thanks for the response. No altitude issues. Does have a hot foot. I have verified no plugs in prop. Motor is 250 Pro XS. Throttle position sounds interesting because I do not feel as though I am getting everything out of the motor. I have never owned a 250 before but the 225 that I owned felt like it had considerably more power out of the hole. Thanks to you both again!

By the way, is the throttle adjustment just a matter of adjusting the screw/nut on the hot foot cable behind the foot plate?

Yes it is… Though position should be verified with DDT.
