After a great, but rainy Memorial weekend of fishing my rod box had 1/4 inch of water in the bottom and a couple other front compartments were wet. The passenger side rear box had nearly an inch of water in it. I have a 2015 Caracal that has the Southco Locks on the compartments. I have to believe that the water is getting in through there? Does anyone have any advice on how to prevent this? I know we arent supposed to drill drains in the compartments so Im using a shopvac to get all the water out. Any ideas for waterproofing the locks/latches? Thanks for the help!2015 BassCat Caracal225 Yamaha SHORaymarine Axiom 12sTwin 8 Red PowerPole Blades
My thoughts:(1) check the mounting screws for the SouthCo latches. They obviously need to be tight. I have them on my 08 classic and they dont leak a drop. But I installed and tightened them myself, then re-tighened them a month later after they had sit and compressed the carpet a bit.(2) check the seals around the lips of the compartments.(3) on long doors like rod boxes, check to see if the door has a slight “bow” in it where the ends are higher than the center where the latch is. I saw where BCB said it often helps, if that is the problem, to put a 2×4 in the middle and then press down on the ends to give it a negative bow, so that that the center is higher. This will better compress and seal the lids. They have a writeup here on how to catch the leak in the act using paper in the compartments. Then you will know exactly where the water comes from.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

Yes i have read this as well from bcb. Ive done it to mine. Just take your time and plan your bends. The aluminum lids twist easliy. After achieving desired positioning most likely you will have to readjust your locksLast edited by Redngoo on June 21st, 2017, 7:20 pm, edited 1 time in total.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury

Did you put one end into the rod box with the other end sticking out in the middle of the lid? Then two guys get on each end and press down on the lid?Everyone should believe in something. Jeh i tried several different positioned ways. Wat seemed to best for me was i cut a board that would lay flat on the deck as i want the wide side laying flat on the carpet to prevent kinking the lid. Only hanging a couple inches or so under the edge of the lid. Yes my wife stood on the 2by. Then i lightly started appplying pressure with my foot. Then i would check it. Moving the board from place to place untill i achieved the fit i wanted. My only suggestion is take your time and dont get greedy. In the event you need more height to get a little more push just add another 2by on top of the other which gives you 3 inch of push and a little “extra” leverage. Both my lids were twisted and yes as usual one was easily straightend and one agravating.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
The constant pressure from the trim seal definitely causes some roll up on the lids over time.
