Hey guys,I need some help please. I have a 2013 Bass CatSabre ftd/ Mercury Pro xs 115. I bought the boat with every $ I have. I bought the boat with a Laser 2 22pitch prop and its too big for me in AZ with the elevation. I need to trade my 22 pitch for a 20pitch prop. Does anyone know a dealership or person that would trade me props? The boat ran 10 mins on this prop. I need some help with this. I called BCB and talk to Ivan and it doesnt seem like BCB wants to help. Please help me. Thanks
BCB would love to help though Mercury would most likely also and this is a Mercury part not a BCB part. Mercury probably wont assist as neither Mercury nor BCB can use this propeller for a new boat sale. You can contact a Mercury dealership and visit with them on an exchange for an 18″ or 20″ propeller in this style. It seems for some reason BCB is being persued to handle this exchange and they do not make propellers. Have you tried it without those black hub inserts known as PVS plugs.
No but I was told by Ivan that they would not resolve my problem. Im not asking a hand outs even though after spending $20k that would be the right thing. Im asking for help finding a Prop to trade. Its Very upsetting to spend $20k and it doesnt work. Would you be happy?
I can understand your frustration but if you didnt buy the boat new directly from a BCB dealer then any cost to get the boat setup properly is really going to be on you. This board is a great source for advice and generally everyone is willing to help. If it were me, Id find a good local prop shop and see what kind of trade you can make. Several years ago I actually traded a Laser II in on a new prop and seems like I got the new one for 2/3 or half the price. Additionally, if you find someone local they will probably let you borrow several props to try before you buy… at least that is what mine did. You might also try selling your 22 outright either on this board or BBC. Hang in there, you will love your Sabre once you get it dialed in. Jason Ferbrache – Edmond, OK 1995 Basscat Eyra
Are Props under Mercury warranty?
Maybe this will give you a little prospective on why Im so upset. I just came back from a tour in Iraq and my wife had this boat sitting in the drive way when I came home, and she is upset more than me because I cant even use the boat because it wont get on plane. She keeps telling me to let her call BCB but I promise you dont wanna talk to her. lol.
First, Thank you for your service to your country. Glad youre home safe.Suggest you visit a Mercury affiliated dealer, one familiar with boatengine setups even if not specifically a BCB dealer. Provides some more details here also. Current engine height (position of jackplate at top, or engine height in relation to the pad), how the boat is loaded (tackle, occupants, etc.),Are you trimming all the way down when you come out of the hole, etc. Does the boat have a dealer decal or other paperwork. I would think the original dealer could help with prop sizing, and most likely a trade.
Although a Mercury prop is probably the BEST prop for your motor , there are relatively inexpensive options out there as well , that would at least get you on the water . — I just looked on ebay , and there is a Solas 19 pitch for only $279 . — I understand that you spent a lot of money to get your boat , but the onus for setup is on you , and you alone , as it was technically a ” used ” boat when you got it . — Im sure that a lot of the guys on here have several props for fishing different parts of the country as I do , which is all part of it . — You have to have the necessary accessories to make it all work . — When you come to the owners tourney next year youll need that 22 pitch prop , so my best advice is to be patient until you can purchase what you need to get going . — After you do , BCB and this board will give you all the help you could ever ask for . — Thank you for your service , and God Bless . — Mark
I think the guy you bought it from should help. I understand that he won the boat but he also profitted from the sale. He should make it right if anybody does. I cant figure how BCBs or Mercury is responsible since the boat was probably ordered this way. Try to find a local prop shop and see if you can work out a trade. Sorry for the bad luck.
The boat was specd for operation in the most normal conditions not knowing where it would operate obviously. The altitude impacts the use somewhat. Coldogfishing, we will work with you on this propeller based upon your service to our country. BCB is always at the service of those who protect our freedoms. We have a 20″ propeller in stock should that interest you. They will require credit card information to handle that transfer and to secure the exposure of BCB in the event it is not received back. You will probably still need to remove the PVS plugs and you may even still need an 18″ propeller. Please contact Ivan at Bass Cat again and he will be glad to assist you. We are doing this out of respect for your service and in honor of your spouses actions in your behalf. We obviously can not afford to stack used propellers up that we do not manufacture. Anybody need a used 22 Laser II? Rick
