Hello guys its been a long time since I have posted here but I need to replace my livewell pumps and was wondering if this was a fairly easy task or not. I plan on getting my 00 Pantera out of storage soon and doin a little work before the ice goes out, yeah were still driving our trucks on the lake in NE Wisconsin but in a few weeks that will change. Im gettin the itch!! Thanks for any help, I would rather do this myself rather than trying to get it into the boat shop.
If the dash is clicking the relay is functioning in the BP-100 assembly. There is probably a wire issue on the harness or a ground coming from the terminal block. The harness runs through a pair of AMP plugs which are brown, and connection issues there are a possible issue. The most common is the Terminal block on the transom for a ground issue, or the AMP connector. The next is to determine if there is power from the dash that the relay is on. That terminal is on the unit and you can remove one of the “J” Plugs that is on the PC board pins. These are held into the unit with a clamp strip with plastic wing nuts. The wiring schematic is in the drop down menus on the Bass Cat Home page if you do not have your original BP-100 manual. These are a PDF there online. 1. Terminal Block 2. I checked the grounds at the terminal block. ok Rechecked the ground circuit with multi meter. tests ok. Pulled the AMP plug apart, checked connection, reinstalled. voltage is present at pump connector when pump is disconnected. Tested feed circuit to pump with multi meter and circuit tests fine. I jumpered one of the courtesy light switches into the pump feed circuit after the AMP plug and the pump runs. I believe that once the pump is plugged in and turned on that the circuit from the dash assembly drops voltage. Can the dash itself be causing a voltage drop?
The BP dash is reading the condition of hte pump. It is probably a pump that is operating outside the set parameters. It will work on direct volt atge, though it is pulling too many amps and the dash wont allow it to function would be our guess. You were capable for us to inform you of this, though most are not. Tried pump # 3. Same result. will not run. I understand that there is a poly-switch built into the BP100 dash to act as a breaker of sorts. Can that switch be faulty and still work the recir. pump properly? I have the pump direct wired for now so I can at least fill the livewell.Can the dash be put into any kind of self test mode? I really appreciate all your help. Thanks !
There is a thermal wafer in the unit. The 95 models are roughly 10 amp. They could be replaced if that were the issue by a good solder tech. The thermals are common, and the square shaped are fine in place of the round wafers. These are more common to acquire. We assume you checked the out power with a voltmeter first? BCB
The reason that Im guessing a voltage drop in dash is because voltage at pump connector is 12.2 unhooked. I wired in a 12v light (1194, low amp bulb)and it would not even light the bulb. disconnecting the AMP plug by the dash and applying a 12v source runs the pump meaning that circuit to the pump and its ground should be good.
Did this issue ever get resolved
We are not sure, though he should check his ground strap in the bilge area, plus the grounds and corrosion in the AMP plugs, as well as in the unit connections.
Ice is thawing, so get the trucks off the ice! You can handle the pump replacement easy.
Thanks I thought it would be. Ill be off the ice soon but were HAMMERING the walleyes up here, its been fantastic!!
Reverse a couple of leads and check the operation from other switches. There should be enough play to switch the Recirculation and Pump Out.
Ok. If it works with the leads from the recirculation pump, I assume that means I have a problem with the switch? or connection at the switch?
That would be correct and we suspect the Pro Touch Pad.
