New Order: ? on Rear Decks on Sabre FTD/Pantera II/ Cougar FTD & Advantage.

Hello there. Just saw the Bass Cats in person for the first time today at the Milwaukee Boat Show (they had a Sabre FTD & Cougar FTD on display)… I had ordered (although it has yet to go in from the dealer) a 08 Sabre FTD, but upon seeing the rear deck on it I am a bit worried it may be a little small… In seeing the Cougar, it obviously had more fishing deck both front and back but I think it may be too big a boat for the tight coves/areas I like to fish on my lake. Which brings me to the Pantera II…I was not able to see one in person – is the rear deck on the PII bigger than the rear deck of the Sabre FTD, or is the extra foot on the front deck? Because the PII is a 19ft, which is between the Sabre & Cougar, I am thinking this may be the boat to order…? I would greatly appreciate some clarification. Some background…while HP has never been a major concern of mine & I know the bigger boats are rated for more, in all honesty I really want to get the best overall platform for fishing that can handle some rough water if need be, but still get in some tight & shallow spots to fish. I am thinking the PII may be the best fit for me….??? The Sabre was to be paired with a Etec 150HO, the Cougar was paired with a Etec 225HO and the Pantera II would be setup with a Etec 200HO. Id love to hear any feedback or comments from BCB or BC owners… Thanks in advance for your help! Halls

Have you considered a Pantera 4? Great layout with lots of room and runs the rough stuff very well with a 200.

The P2 is a few inches longer and a wee bit wider on the rear deck. We think the Sabre FTD deck will be fne though. It is plenty large enough BCB

If money isnt a show-stopper, the Panteras are awesome. With a 200 on the back, youll have plenty of performance and theyre small and nimble enough for any tight places I would ever fish — at least the P-2 which I own. Itll get you home in just about any water — within reason — its just a great fishing boat with plenty of room and storage.

I have a 05 Classic and the rear deck is very similar in size as the rear deck on the Sabre FTD. I cant imagine one person fishing from the rear deck would need anymore room. The FTD is one awsome boat that will fish much larger that other brand 18 ft boats. There is also plenty of room for two people to fish on the front deck. Just my 2 cents worth. Brian Hash

Ive fished out of the whole spectrum, having owned a Margay (Im sure a few of you are scratching your heads about that one), a PII and now a Puma. The big jump isnt from the Sabre to the Pantera classes, but to the Cougar. Your Sabre FTD will likely be just as fishable as the PII youre looking at, especially if youve taylored your decision to waters you frequent but Im not at all talking you out of a P11 AT ALL.
