Aerator clogged in line?

My aerator pump will turn on, but then starts to sound “bogged down I guess, and clogs. I cn pull the pump out of the housing and the pump works fine. All the other pumps and lines seem free. Any ideas on where to start looking for the clog before I take the whole line apart? Thanks for any ideas. Also, is there anywhere in the archives that explains how the plumbing of the livewell is set up? Oh, it is a 2003 P4.

Thanks, I read that before. The spray bar isnt clogged, the recirc system works fine. Its just the aerator. The Livewell in pump works fine and fills the livewell. The aerator pump works fine if it is out of the housing. When I put it back in the housing and turn it on, it runs for a few seconds normal, then sounds like the air movement it getting slowed (a sucking sound), then stops and sounds clogged. From what I can see, the recirc and aerator use some of the same tubing to get water into the livewell, so my clog must be between where the pipes join and the back of the boat?

Have you tried switching the cartridges between the recirc and the aerator? If the recirc cartridge acts the same way then it is a clog, probably disconnect hoses/clean or replace/ and reconnect. It sounds like it is air locking? What year model is the boat and how long has it been since a pump replacement, or has it always done it under your ownership.

OK, the story gets more odd. Just to make sure I have the terms right, I call the black insert with the spinning pump the “cartridge”, and the yellow pump housing the “housing”. I just went out and switched the cartridges, putting the recirc cartidge in the aerator housing and vice versa. Both work fine! Then I switch them back to the original way, and the aerator pump again slows down and stops. Put it in the recirc housing, runs fine. Have to admit, I am a bit stumped. Oh, it is a 2003 Pantera IV. I bought it in June of 2006. It worked perfectly until this past Sunday.

No visible cracks in the housing? Connections are good, not loose? If they both work when switched one option would be to just leave them switched. If you have the aerator cartridge in the recirc housing, are you leaving it on as long as the aerator is set? Seems to me it may be the cartridge itself…….can get a new cartridge and/or pump from BassCat. Other than that, dont know where to go from there. Maybe someone else?? I have seen the cartridges when you take them out of the housing spin under power, but when put under a load they would not work.
