Got a slidemaster manual jackplate on my 06 Puma wide. Im trying to get to the high 70s or more with my 275 Verado. Im currently raising the jackplate 1/8 to 1/4″ at a time. The jackplate only gives 3″ set back. I cant even find a 3″ Slidemaster on the internet. Seems they are 6, 8, or 10. Anyone know about this, and how much would it help my top end by getting the 6, 8, or 10″? The 28P 4 blade Bravo 1 and 2.5″ prop to pad only gets me in the low 70s now, and at just 5600 rpm and 20 water pressure.. Thanks for any good ideas.

5600 sounds fairly low on rpms at WOT. Even on the Mercs website I think the range is 5800 to 6400.Are you running with a hotfoot? If so, check to see if the stop bolt is set too high. Also what is the yellow thing on your fender step?

Your right – I believe 6200 or 6400 is top end. I just noticed the stop bolt today on the hotfoot. Never thought to look at that. I guess only way to tell is back it down and see if I get more? The yellow thing was the scale used for the first time in my Cat to weigh a worthy fish. (And yes, I admit, my wife caught it – but I netted it if that counts – and gave her the frog to tie one minute before it hit)

Thanks – the colors are nice but you gotta like yellow – There are some other pics in the slide show

For those who arent crazy about yellow, well call it a shade of chartreuse. Now every fisherman/woman likes chartreuse.
