43.8 LBS 5 fish Bag caught on Lake Austin 1/17/08

Yep, it was me and a buddy who caught this bag on Lake Austin. However, not in my Cougar FTD. The city has drawn down the lake over 10 feet and launching a Bass boat is impossible now. ( Only a BCB livewell could handle such a sack anyway ) Oh yea, we only fished for 3 hours ! Fish were caught on DD -14. I have a little 12 foot Port -a bote that allow us to get to the big girls in the lake. What fun !! Rolled video on the whole thing too.. ( link below ) 1st Bite 6.6 lbs ( had to cull this fish ) 2nd Bite 7.9 lbs 3rd Bite 7.10 lbs 4th Bite 8.11 lbs 5th Bite 9.6 Lbs 6th Bite 10.04 Lbs A perfect Bass Straight !! Fish were caught in exactly that order. ( technically there were some 5 lbers mixed in there but, the 5 fish sack came in increasing size ) Here is the youtube link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5ClmNOn9hM ( The video is not really in the order of exactly when each fish was landed. Basser, how long after they fill the lake back up does the fishing get back to normal? I imagine it takes a little time for the fish to get back in thier normal patterns. Congrats! Sort of like shooting pigs in a pen! LOL

Dude,,,,heckuva trip B-U-T! Duran Duran? You are KILLING me. Austin is the coolest city in America but music like that at a boat ramp will get a warning shot from a redneck here in Arkansas. But hey if Duran Duran will get me 43lbs in my next tournament Ill play it loud and get a Tampax wrap on my p4 Heck who am I kidding…. Id be lucky to catch 4.3lbs- WardC.O.D. Jr. III

John, I am not sure. Last year after they filled the Lake, the fish went right into prespawn and some of the best fishing I have ever had ( until 2 days ago ) Ward, Funny thing though.. You knew the band Anyway if you click back on the vid, then click ” More from this user ” you will see all my vids and hear a wide range of music. It is quite hard to match music to fishing footage. When we went out my buddy said ” So lets get some Girls on film ” that became the theme of the trip.. i guess.. Still got some more drawdown time coming, so we will see what happens…. Hey Basser, I was planning on going to Choke on Monday but I was thinking. My sister-in-law has a lake house about a 1/2 mile down from the Travis damn and she has a canoe. You think it be worth trying that? It looks like you guys were fishing a little down the lake at the bend by the park — sorry I dont know all the names.

John, Hmm.. It would be hard for me to say not to go to Choke. The problem with a canoe is your range. The big fish are traveling the lake in packs ( IMO ) You have to find em to get into them. I have to leave that choice to you.
