How does the Eyra handle in rough water?

Has anyone that has a Eyra or ridden in one, have any input on how this rig handled rough water. Does this rig offer a dryer ride then the Puma FTD/ Cougar FTD? How is it compared to the Puma FTD/Cougar FTD?

ive owned both and the days I go I simply dont and wont let weather keep me off the water- aint like I can just go another day that week. That said I aint at Rayburn or Toledo or Erie either. For me, my 15 eyra lands better than my puma ftd did by 1-2% but maybe thats comparing an 09 to a 15 too? Eyra takes more cahoots to drive WOT with some chop. It aint like it wont run on a rail at 77 but you gotta stay after it just a hair more than a puma FTD. Ill stay in this eyra til it wont tolerate me. Really love this hull. It runs nimble and will get me out and back with ease no matter the day- wind blows here in Arkansas and I just laugh and roll on.C.O.D. Jr. III

Im happy with the way my Eyra rides but have not owned a Cougar or Puma, came out of a Sabre. I did ride in a couple of Pumas and an Eyra before deciding on the Eyra and think the Eyra rides just as good. But, I know there are plenty of others that have owned both so they have way more experience in the ride quality of them and can provide more input.The Eyra is a very dry ride. The only time we get wet at all is when its really windy and it just blows some of the spray on us and I dont think theres a bass boat out there that could avoid this. Rough water ride is very subjective to what youre calling rough water, how fast youre talking about running rough water, and a drivers skills. An Eyra handles rough water very well and will ride very well in rough water, but is it as good as a Puma FTD/Cougar FTD? Im sure there are situations that it might as it can be more responsive to driver input than a larger boat. In most cases all things considered, I dont believe so. Same can be said comparing FTDs to a Jaguar. There are situations that Id rather be in a Puma FTD than a Jaguar. However, this is due to my extensive experience in an FTD than a Jag. I also believe that if were talking about rough water ride in all characteristics, wed all come to the consensus that the Jag is the best, then Puma/Cougar hulls, then the Eyra. The new Lynx will probably find its ranking just after the Jag. Dry ride…All Bass Cat boats have a dry ride. Period!

There is nothing that will compare to a Jaguar in bass boats. The Eyra is easy to keep dry in rough water and does handle some waves better than the larger hull, though some waves the 20.5 hulls of the FTD series handle better also.

You will have mixed answers. Rick has told me that in some waves the Eyra will ride better and in other size and type waves the FTDs will ride better. With that said, my personal experience has been the slight edge to the Eyra. The Eyra has a more nose down design which allows the boat to stay down and not trap air cutting through the waves better. If your only concern is rough water then get a Jag. However, buy the Eyra if you just want to make sure it isnt a turd in the rough stuff. All of them are dry.

The 203/Puma Hybrid is the smoothest of the lot. Hope they finish her up and get her into production soon. Runs like a Champion, fishes like a Cat. Best of both worlds.
