Im relocating from Austin Tx to N. Carolina. I have a 2006 P4 with less than 25hrs. and 3 1/2yrs. of warranty on my Optimax. I cant tow my boat to NC so the moving company will have to flatbed it to NC for $1500-$2000. Ill have a few months of down time getting settled and moving. Should I sell it and buy a new one in NC after I get settled or move it?

Are you kidding?…Move it! Will be hard to replace it, dollar wise, despite the moving cost$.

I would rent a truck from Hertz or whoever and drive it up there yourself. Even the one way charge will be way less than $1000.00 PS. Or even cheaper, ask a buddy with a truck to help you out.

I agree with fishmagnet and BasserTX. I think you would spend more money if you sold it and bought another one. I think you might could move it cheaper if you tried some other options. I would try to tow it up there some other way or ask someone you trust to help you out. Surely you can move it cheaper than $1500-2000. Just my thoughts. Even at 10 MPG, which you wont get on a rental, 1200 miles is 120 gallons, so youve got the truck rental plus $400 in fuel. Im in the trucking business and $1500-$2000 is reasonable with todays fuel prices. There are probably cheaper options than the moving company, Id try an online search.

bundy150, move it. Find a trucking company in the Austin or SA area needing to get a flatbed back to the east coast for a load and have them loader up and move it for you. Like Scott said the freight rate is fair, but, find one looking for a back haul and they will work with you on freight if the right timeframe for both of your needs…..move it!
