At the OI, I had just taken the boat off the trailer and was pulling around to the slip, when I decided to go thru the pre-tourney equipment function list. Horn button – no horn. Livewell – no pumps. Bilge – no sound of running pump. Whats wrong? Master power switch is on. Dash Humminbird working. Thats right – they have tournament support…. My wife drives me to the Cat van by the ramp. Who is there but Rick Pierce. I ask him if there are service people who could look at my switch panel. He says – not sure how quick theyll be back – wheres your boat. He follows me to the slip at the marina. Next thing I know – hes under my dash finding out its the switch panel that failed. A quick cell phone call later and he has me motoring over to the ramp where the support folks have returned. 5 minutes later they have the faulty unit replaced and had me back to 100%.You know – I was impressed when I got a hand written letter two weeks after I bought my boat thanking me for buying a Bass Cat. To have the owner of the company mining under the dash to fix a electrical problem so youll be on the water for the tournament the next morning – priceless! Its easy to see why the Bass Cat brand has been so successful. These are the things that make a customer swear-off ever owning another brand of bass boat. Mr. Rick – Thank you so much for your help!
Thats Rick, and that is why BCB are so incredibly good. Rick touches, in one way or another, every single piece of every single boat. The knowledge in his head about what goes where, and how it all works, is nothing short of amazing. Rick Pierce is honestly one of the most intelligent, attentively intense individuals Ive ever known. NOTHING goes in one of his boats that he does not understand and cannot work with. Can you imagine Irwin Jacobs crawling under the dash of his companys boat? NOT! We are blessed to know Rick Pierce and his family. In my 40 years of business experience, Ive not seen anyone like him–and I dont think there will be again, any time soon. Mike Whitten/Germantown, TN
That is a great story! These folks are just ole fashion good people. Cant replace that for sure. I hope to meet the Pierce family one day. I already feel like I know them from being on this board for so long, but, It aint the same as talking face to face. This is just another affirmation of why so many of us feel so strongly about Bass Cat Boats. Chris Coupel Paulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
Jeff, Rick and the people at BassCat HAD to get you up and going……….after all, you were BOAT # 1! Just would not have worked out if the tournament started out by calling boat # 2 first. Seriously, that was a great story and reaffirms my choice to run BassCats since my first one in 1989. Rick had not seen my brother in two years, but made it a point to come over and visit with my brother at the registration. Paul did not have any name on his shirt to help Rick out, but Rick remembered his name and even mentioned my son and I….now THATs impressive! It is that kind of friendship that makes the OI so special. If a person attends the OI “to win or place or get a prize” without understanding the significance of the event…that person will miss the whole point. Great job by Rick and everyone associated with BassCat, including the rest of the family!96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
Its the little things that you do that means the most. And I can tell this company is great at meeting our needs.
Thats the man. You will find in time that everyone at BCB is just like that. The most helpful and caring group of folks in the industry and they care about everybody they meet genuinely and every boat that has ever rolled out of that factory. Great folks making a great product and running a great company the right way.
I have only talk with the folks at BCB on the phone or email. They have always been extremely nice and helpful! Cant wait until one day where I can meet them face to face (as well as all you other BC owners!)! I hope one day in the fear future I will be able to attend the OI and go to the factory as well! I would love to see the BCB factory! Steve
I happened to be pulling in to the boat slip beside Jeff when Rick was looking at his boat. I think Jeff and I were both astounded when Rick dove upside down under the console to take a look at the problem. I know I was thinking “Doesnt he have people to take care of stuff like this?”. Not only did Rick troubleshoot and determine the problem, make arrangements with the tech guys to replace it immediately…….he also hung around a few minutes and helped me get my boat squared away in the slip. I know that Rick had an extremely full schedule last week, and I would not have thought twice if he had dashed off to take care of more important issues. The fact that he took a few moments of his time to visit with me and help me get my charger cord routed to the outlet told me that I picked the right boat company. You just dont see that kind of service from companies any more. I truly feel that I am part of a “family” and not just a customer. BCB better hire a good carpenter. They are gonna need a bigger cabinet for JD Power awards……………..
I had never met Rick in person till the classic this year. We had spoke a couple of times on the phone but never in person. He took time to meet me and my father eventhough I had already purchased my new cat. He had people all around looking the Puma FTD over that were interested and possible buyers but he still made time for a good conversation with me and my old man. Truly a class guy and a first class business at BassCat and they have my business for a long time to come.
Customer service is systemic at BCB. Rick sets an example, that quite frankly, becomes the standard. Leadership is about “Follow me, as you see me do” NOT: “Do as I say and not as I do”. The entire staff of BCB is top of the line, and the customer is first. You are treated as though YOU are the owner of the company. Doug
