I have a 2008 Puma and ran the transducer cable last weekend for a SI unit. I pulled the driver-side chrome vent and used a fishtape to run the wire from under the dash to there. Went pretty easy to tell you the truth, but I had to get my daughter to reach in through the hole for the vent to grab the tape. My arm couldnt make the turn required. For power, I caught a wire under my dash that was powering my other depthfinder. No problems so far.

I have also ran transducer wires using the drivers side chrome vent and a fishtape. CC has a good suggestion about getting someone to help that has small arms to be able to reach through that hole. Have them wear long sleeves also to avoid rubbing their arms all over the fiberglass. The job is fairly simple, but might require a little patience. I about to install a Humminbird 997 side imager on my 07 Puma and thought Id see if anyone had any suggestions on where to get power from and the best way to run the transducer cable. From looking around under the dash I dont see any obvious spots to tap into power at. I already have another depth finder in the dash which Im leaving in and I could use the power source it uses but Im afraid that will be too much current draw for that one wire when both units are on at the same time – Ive run into that problem before. Is there some other reserve power source available in there? Also from first glance it looks like the best way to get the transducer cable run up is to take off the vent cap on the top of the right rear panel so that I might could have a somewhat straight shot at running a snake wire through there. Thats just a thought since I figure Ill have to take that off anyway to replace the Lowrance GPS antennae mounted beside it with the Humminbird one. Has anyone done this before?Any advice appreciated…

Sorry misread 09 not 90 model. On a 2009 model that is a larger area and you can easily run wires, though you may have a foam block in the center drain ballast chase that you will have to go under. It will be reachable through the floor drain. That is the easiest route to take. BCB

Which ever way you take, pull in a pull string with the cable that is needed. this will help down the road. I used the Greenlee pulling string from Lowes.
