Livewell question for BCB

This may sound silly, but is it possible for the valve, that controls water draining out of the livewell,…to be installed backwards? When I put the switch in the “empty” position, water stays in the well. When I move it to “auto,” the water drains out of the well. I could have sworn that my “06 CougarFTD switch worked just the opposite. Its not a big deal, just curious.

We just use a fly (butterfly) bit for wood boring and drill from the gel side out. Be sure you check the rear for clearance and dont drill a hole or bust a line where you dont want one. Drill inside out from inside the well. BCB

I cant tell if thats the issue with my boat or not. The images in the link dont show up on my computer…just red xs. My switch just has two postions however. I can pump water in or out no matter what position the switch is in. Dont know if that helps or not. I remember when that info was posted by BCB. I never paid any attention to it as I had the Baycat at that time.

Billius my 99 Jaguar is exactly as you described. I just have to remember if I want water to stay into put it on Empty. I just figured the valve was put on backwards which means the push/pull on thecable is backwards.Johnny

Another question relating to this – when the valve is on empty, will water flow freely into and out of the livewell up to lake level?

billius, check the arm color in the sump. It should not be green. BCB

BCB…I checked the arm color and it is not green…it is white. So apparently the valve is is backwards? Everything works fine, I just have to remember that the “auto” position is really the empty position.

Bill make sure you are getting the arm all the way turned with the switch. That was my problem. Auto/full-Empty/Empty. There is a cable adjustment on the valve.

Ill check that out…of course Ill have to stand on my head to do that. I can see the valve…its just waaay down there.

My 97 PII is backwards. I replaced the valve with the one BCB sent me. I have the push pull cable setup. I forget how the lever on the valve is different from the the one that I took out but it works opposite now. I even tried reversing the lever on the valve but you cant do it.
