Topic: Transfer of old to new hydraulic jackplate help

I just purchased a new TH Marine Atlas Hydraulic plate from BCB to replace my old Detwiler Hyd. plate on my 2008 Puma. Allen was great on the phone and very patient and helpful. He advised to inquire here to get best info. I have a teleflex blinker style switch at console. Are there any special instructions regarding changing to new plate reference to: * torque specs for motor and transom bolts, * changing over the wiring & solenoids and blinker switch, * how to install properly ( ie: wait until silicone dries on bolts etc.), * any guage at console change over or can I use old trim guage for reference, * do I need to change out the blinker style trim to a new one?, * Or any other thoughts and suggestions? Thank you all in advance for the support!

Hi Phil, Received new Atlas jackplate from BCB. The old plate was a 2008-09 Detwiler either 6 or 7 inch. The new one that arrived (and only one now stocked by BCB) is a 10 inch. My question is before I start transfer is (assuming that this plate is now used on the Puma as I have an 08 Puma) is there enough cable length on hyd. steering and other motor connected wires/cables to extend the added distance to the 10 inch plate? If not what is next step? The reason I am doing this closest dealer is 2 1/2 – 3 hours away. Again thank you in advance, much appreciated. Don

The Atlas BCB stocks is the 8″ version, which is just over 8″ long. The older Detwiler was just over 6″ length, though we thought that year was an 8″ plate. The hoses and cables should be fine in length. They never changed the measurement for the running model year change.
