Im looking at a prop change, maybe will check local dealers, bass clubs to try some before buying. Not getting the top end I expect on my newly purchased 06 Puma Wide w/275 Verado. Have a Bravo1 28P, about 2.5 in below pad, but getting only 5700 rpms WOT at 72mph. Assuming all things stay the same, load, water conditions, going to a 27, or even 26 will increase rpms, right? What other effects will it have. Hole shot and handling are great now. Odd thing is I just found out when measuring prop to pad that with motor cavitation plates level during measuring, my trim gauge is at 5.0. This 5.0 is the same position Im at when trimming up at WOT to get to 72mph. Therefore, the prop is at level at my top speed. Does this sound right? Wont be throwing any rooster tails at that position, will I? Im a little confused? (Also, the Merc prop selection criteria on Mercs website show a Bravo 1 only on dual drives or stern drives, not on Bass Boats)
