You have to replace the whole thing. Easy 5 minute job especially if you do it at the lake with the boat out of the way. GeorgeGeorge

Yes, it is a replacement item. The culprit seems to be larger rocks tapping the rear rubberized protective housing. You might look at top swinging it to offer more protection, though we dont see many issues really. Newer models are top mounted.

Have the reverse light on my 05 cougar and it is burned out, can the bulb be replaced or do I need to buy the unit , thanks Dave.

Whole light will require replacement.

It is a complete assembly. Parts has them or you can go to a tractor supply store for an aftermarket medium range flood light. BCB

Its a sealed beam, light number H9414. Just bought new one at ORilley auto parts $18.99. Easy to replace.

The lights are not sealed beam. But if OReilly has one that is, then danged that is cheap! We are going to check it out. BCB

Wagner H9411 also works and is a sealed beam, but cost $31 at NAPAPete

The light that I replaced because it was broken was the Wagner H9414 and it was the same light that was installed from the factory when I bought my Cougar last fall. The numbers on the new light was the same exact number on the old one. H9414. It cost $18.99 at Orilley Auto parts.
