Hey Guys -Been reading a ton the past few weeks. I was leaning heavily toward a Ranger Z185 to be honest. However, a buddy told me to take a longer look at BassCats which Ive been doing here and all over the internet. Im really like the fact the storage length on the Sabre Vision is shorter than the Z185, as is top speed. Those were my two biggest drawbacks since my garage space is a tad tight. I fish a lot of small lakes but dont want to get washed away when I do venture onto bigger bodies so an 18-18.5 boat is really where Im spending all of my time looking. The prices in that range fit my budget and I can fit them in my garage – so they really check all the boxes for me.The one thing Ive been really struggling with is finding solid details on the Sabre Vision. For example, I read on here a lot of customizations that can be done to the Sabre FTD or Sabre Vision but I cant seem to build out pricing on the Bass Cat website or even find dealers with prices either. I know exactly what a Z185 would cost me and Id love to better understand the full specs and costs of the Sabre FTD and Sabre Vision to do some comparisons. The Z185 was definitely top of my budget when factoring in Ill be adding 12 Talons, an Ultrex, and two Helix units and the electronics cost those carry. Does anyone have general pricing details on a Sabre FTD / Sabre Vision packages? This would be a huge help in helping guide my search.Thank you!
yes. go to bills marine in Monett Mo and look at his Sabre ftd. You can see how it is loaded and then just figure the swaps or extras like talons you want or just call Jeff there and he can help. It shows his price for this boat as rigged on his web page. My guess is wiht double talons and Ultrex you will be about 42k give or take a thousand. Icve looked at both those boats and the z185 is wider and bigger deck and lot bigger platform. The Sabre has trolling motor peddle all the way to nose and deck is narrower. Lenght of sabre is 18 foot and z185 is 18 8. Sabre is a nicer build boat in my opinion looking at both close and i will be faster boat and better trailer under it also. Plus no plastic. I know the people who have the ftd or now vision same hull and top cap now really like them for 18 ft boat.Last edited by monte1 on April 25th, 2017, 6:49 pm, edited 1 time in total.
We are not sure where you are located though dealers price out according to the build specs you wish. There are dozens of options on a BCB from a Transducer Shield and Saver on down the list to how you configure your graphs. Most our competition does not offer, thus there are some complexities.
Thanks guys!BCB – That is sort of what I figured. Im located in Northern WI which makes it quite difficult as there are no dealers close by. Is there a way to build out a boat online to get even a ballpark price and see a full list of options? I guess maybe that is what Im looking for… Thanks again!
If you go into the “media” menu from the home page, and then “brochure”, you can get the list of standard features and options on pg. 32-33.
Eddie would probably be closest to you in Northern WI. Im sure he can help you out with pricing. That and hes on Mille lacs! May take a good week to get the boat picked up and test it out on the water…Lybacks Marine2200 Highway 47 NorthIsle, MN 56342(320) 676-3611(320) 676-8297 Fax lybacks@yahoo.com
You have two options in Minnesota as pointed out and at Cedar Like Sales in Wisconsin. Both are solid service dealers and have good reputations. BCB
Just call a dealer. One will get you a price. I had a sabre and it was awesome. Im not a fan of talons and would lean toward 8 power poles. I mean why would you need 12 talons when your getting an ultrex with spot lock. Plus the talons are heavy and have a ton of moving parts that can fail. The sabre is an excellent choice for smaller lakes and is a blast to drive. I wouldnt be afraid to fish Toledo or Rayburn when its blowing either.
Eddy actually has a really nice looking Sabre FTD sitting at the shop right now. If you check out his website you can take a good look at it. It is rigged with a 150 four stroke and a Fortrex 80 I think. Not sure what it has for graphs.Edit – just checked, its got a Motorguide X5 and a Helix 5 at the dash, dont think it has a bow graph mounted yet.I rode in a similarly rigged Sabre FTD last year at the ride and drive event with my son and Ivan was driving. If I get a Sabre FTD when I buy, it will have the 150 four stroke on it. Great motor. There is a video on youtube of a guy with a new Sabre FTD with twin power poles and I think an Ultrex or maybe its a Fortrex and the 150 four stroke on it running down the lake. Gives a good look at holeshot and top end.Last edited by tdobb on April 26th, 2017, 11:39 am, edited 1 time in total.
I fished Toledo Bend for years in a Sabre (non FTD). Great boat
