I popped another powerhead on my old Eyra I am having it rebuilt, I will likely sell the boat this spring. its a great boat I have done a ton of work to it. Thats what Im tired of doing, I own a restaurant and honestly I do enjoy working on the boat to an extent but I like fishing better. I have spent more time dealing with repairs then I want, time off is prescious and I honestly want that time to be as trouble free as possible. I work hard and I am really thinking its time to reward myself and pull the trigger on a new boat. I have kicked around buying a lighly used late model Cat but I also really like the idea of buying new, I have made some big purchases in my life but never have bought a brand new car or boat. I am looking at ordering a P2, 200 ProXs I would love a Puma or Cougar but I want to still be able to afford going fishing and not just making a payment. P2 is from what I can tell a good all around boat, good size good power from what I can tell I think I like the layout. I will miss the small day box on the front of the old Eyra but besides that it appears to be a great layout. I think I will notice a huge difference with the extra length. From what I have heard the P2 is a great handling boat for its size. My old Eyra takes some work to drive, its fast and keeps you dry but can get hairy in some chop. Heres what Im thinking single console, really wish removable console was an option but being it isnt Im going for single console, tandem trailer, swing away, 200 Merc (max hp for hull) Im still up in the air on if I should get electronics now or wait until I can buy out of pocket, I like the sound of the boat coming ready to fish rigged front to back. I would love a Hydro JP and am curious can I get the manual Detwiller that you can adjust on the water rigged from the factory? If I can I can deal with that as its a breeze to make adjustments with (my eyra is rigged with the 8″ manual ezadjust) What are you guys thoughts on this? Also anything that is a must have that Im not covering? As I said this would be my first brand new boat purchase and dont want to be a year into it and wishing I wouldve done this or that.. Also I know all the dealers are “family” to an extent but you often hear about huge pricing variables from dealer to dealer? Everyone has got to get their piece I get that, but if I have to drive another couple hours to save thousands I will… Could be the differnce in electronics or not. I will already have to drive over four hours and theres a few more BCB dealers within a couple more hours of driving.. So lets say I buy the boat from the dealer with the best price, I can go to the closer dealer for any BCB service or warranty correct? I work hard for my money as we all do and I want to get every bit of my moneys worth. Anything else Im missing Im all ears? Thanks in advance
Back in january I purchased a 2013 p2 .I came out of a 17 foot caracal. I was pretty sure of wat I wanted. This wil be my 2nd cat. Obviously I buy um to keep.meaning the last a88 model I purchased in 89. I love the p2 just suited for my style. Dont get me wrong did I want a cougar sure I did. Did I need a 20 ft boat ? No I put alot of thought into my decision. I bought used for several reason of my preference. Cost (you can save thousands) little nitpicks (let someone else go ahead and get these took care of). Financing (something I could pay off in a couple yrs versus 10yrs.) Just a couple to say the least. Yea I got some motor warranty still ( can always buy extend warranty if I elect saved enough in purchase to do this.) Can customize to my exact needs a little along. Dont get me wrong buying new has it pluses also.but for me used was my best option. Good luck in your decision making. Just make sure you get wat you want. Especially if your a buyum to keep type of person.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
I agree with Redngoo. If you do buy new, I would definitely get the grab post and steps on the trailer tongue. As for the graphs, personally I would get the graphs you want when you order the boat. For me its hard to spend extra cash out of pocket to add stuff although its the same money in the end.
I checked with 6 dealers and there was huge differences in pricing. I considered everything! Reputation, Customer Service, and pricing. It was a No Brainer for me to buy both my Cats from Sherm. If I had to buy from my closest dealer honestly I would still be fishing out of an Aluminum boat. I Love I mean Love my P2. It fits my garage, my budget, and more than takes care of my needs. I bought new both times and honestly that is what I usually do whether it is a truck, boat, or whatever. I like being able to make it mine from the very start, and honestly 50 years from now I will never know the difference.Dan
I have decided I most likely will be ordering a p2 in the near future. 200 ProXs or 200 SHO both seem great go with service and personal preference. Manual jack plate, trolling motor largest 24 volt unless you do a lot of river fishing I would get a 36 volt again brand is a personal preference. Electronics I would get them factory installed. I was thinking lowrance but have changed my mind over price and customer service most likely it will be Helix by Humminbird. See my post titled (does any one have any info on helix 9,10,12 ) lots of good info and links to more. As far as console the P2 it is not the removable kit but i am pretty shore you could order it bolted in with no sealant were you could install it for the cold months and remove it for the summer. For more info look at the top of the page under (which big cat is calling your name) and search under the Bass Cat FAQ Archive Pantera II dated may 14-12 (that is not a 2 it is 2 I”s)Last edited by acf cat on November 1st, 2015, 9:59 pm, edited 1 time in total.
I believe the standard jack plate is the R&R Slidemaster, and it can be adjusted from inside the boat as long as you do not drop your 3/4 wrench in the water, or loosen the side plates too much. Takes I believe a 1 1/16 to turn the big nut.I second the trailer step and pole, and get the electronics with the boat. Get your partners to pay for gas to lessen the impact of the payments and keep you on the water.
If your considering a new boat phil Addison has a real good write up here on this forum . It explains all the options and pros aND cons of each. Maybe some one can find it and post it. I got lucky I found a great boat with most of the options I wanted. It had the brand electronics I wanted even though I already had my own.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury

All top 10 refers to I think are sales numbers. One is closet to me but if he was my only option I would not be in a Cat. I am surprised a couple of those dealers sell any boats at all. Most guys must have unlimited funds and dont check around at all. There are some Good dealers not on that list. Of Course Sherm is The Man as far as I am concerned!Dan
If was gna buy new I truly believe I would make the drive from alabama. I have talk with sherm on many occasions. Very honest very easy to talk to.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
