Yes, Ike added a couple more feet and right now it is a few feet short of April. Though we did get a great spawn! Bull Shoals is higher by comparison and has not been able to yet get enough relief. Table Rock and Beaver have kept it higher. Though trout fishing on the river has been “Smokin” from all the water flow in the rivers. We expect the spawns to help more in a few years on both reservoirs. We have a ton of fry.

I have fished the OI as well and loved it. I only wish I lived close enough to may a day trip to fish there more often. Alas, I am stuck here on the Tennessee and Coosa river chains.

Just for future refrence, what ramp did you hit the boulder? Congrats on the good fishing. This year it seems to me that there has been alot more good Smallmouth caught.

I was launching at a Corp site down by off of 342 near Briarcliff and the dock is sitting on the ramp, so you have to launch off to the side. the little boulder I hit looked to be about the size of a compact fridge (about 2 x 3 ft) but that can be deceptive looking through the water. Sam I was catching them on a green pumpkin 5/8 oz jig with a craw trailer, and a 1/4 oz stand up head with a green pumpkin Zoom speed craw, also a 3/16 oz shaky head with a 4″ zoom finesse worm all on 8# fluorocarbon line. Thankfully I was idling up to the trailer when I hit the rock and it did not do a lot of damage, it just shaved off about 1/8″ on all 3 blades. It was raining Cats and Dogs the whole time, and like I said when the thunder started (no visible lightning) the bite quit.

I was up in Mountain Home this past weekend and had a great Smallmouth trip on Lake Norfork. I was only fishing about 3 hours in the morning Sat and Sun, and caught about 20 keepers between 2-3.5 lbs Saturday, and about the same Sunday, with a few BIG Spots and Largemouths thrown into the mix. I got wet with the rain, but enjoyed myself immensely! I have always loved to fish there in the spring for the OI but have never been up on the lake at any other time. The fish were all healthy and fought like crazy, Saturday they were deep at 17-21 ft, and Sunday they had moved up with the rising water and were only about 2-6 ft deep near boulders around buck-brush on points, but when the thunder started the bite quit real quick each day. I did find a boulder when putting the boat back on the trailer that pretty much gave me a reason to get my prop B&Bed finally (OUCH).
