Gas gauge on right tank of 2015 CougarFTD does not register most of the time. Seems like it wants to work when lake is rough then drops all the way down to empty. Is it advisable for me to get to sender or just take it to dealer? If it is easy, can someone walk me through it? Thanks

Its a simple screw in part for most models. If your rear tanks then you should have access. Take a look and find the large round part and two wires gong into a square capsule. There is a rubber seal under it and it should be labeled WEMA which is the sender brand.

Is there possibly just something stuck? Can I just loosen it up? Has anybody done this on their own? Thanks

If you know how to read an Ohm meter you can take the sending unit out of the tank and put the meter leads on the connections where the wires are and move the arm and see if the values change steadily, if they jump around crazily then the sender is bad. I would check the connections first to see if they are loose or dirty before pulling the sender.

Mr. Rick phoned last night with the decision that the sender needed to be replaced and one is on the way. Is this a great company or what?
