Few weeks back my trailer was involved in a hit and run at one of the local lakes.Only damages was to the port side fender, which needs to be replaced. I put in a claim with my insurance company. New fender from Bass Cat is $345, plus shipping. My insurance company is giving me $241.50 for the fender, plus shipping costs.They said 30% depreciation for the fender because the boat is a 1998. Is this normal practice with boat insurance? Thanks in advance!

Yes – luck that they only docket it 30%.

Many Insurance Companies offer a depreciation waiver that is not expensive. It is a good option to add when the boat aged past their depreciation period (around 8 years)…2011 BassCat Pantera IVwww.ChesterCountyBassMasters.com

wow, my insurance has a deductible of $500 so I would be all out of pocket. sounds like a good deal you got!

I wouldnt have turned it in.. You are better off not dinging an insurer for small claims, they do not like frequency.

I agree with smbass77 as my deductible is also $500. I didnt think anyone offered a $100 deductible anymore.

I have a zero dollar deductible!I have a disappearing deductible policy that is now zero dollars. So once it went to zero I raised the policy to a very high deduct and dropped the payment to a very low annual fee.if I need it the claim will be zero deduct and I would need to change deduct limits and my payment would go back up. My agent taught me this trickTreat everyday like it might be the last

Thanks for the replies everyone. I guess this is the norm. Im fortunate since my deductible is only $100
