thought Id pose this question here as I research the topic myself. After two years of being out of commission I finally got a rebuilt M2 lower unit (I believe its a 1.85 gear ratio) from Evinrude to replace the L1 that failed. I also got two 10 talons which I thought worked pretty good today. So I ran the boat played with the jack plate and trim settings and these are the numbers I got out of my 2005 Basscat puma DC and 2005 225 Evinrude HO. I would typically run 5600-5700 rpm (5600 much easier to obtain) with top speed at 70.04 mph my hole shot now takes 10 sec or more. Now thats with full tanks of gas and all my equipment (4 batteries), but empty live wells and no partner in the boat using a 26 pitch fury prop. Ive been told before that my motor should touch 6100 rpm wide open (or was it 6200?) so Im thinking I need to drop down to a 24 pitch prop to hit the right RPMs. Im also wondering if I should stay with the 3 blade fury, try the 4 blade fury (which Im pretty sure very few people have tried yet) or go back to a trophy plus or temptest. Id say Id rate hole shot performance over top speed in our shallow Florida lakes, but would be nice to hit at least 70 again, but that may not be possible according to the prop calculators Ive played around with lately. Any thoughts would be welcome. Ps Anyone interested in a 28 pitch trophy plus? (got it from Ivan back in 2005). PSS it was 80 degrees out, Im at sea level and water temp at least in low 80s.Last edited by dlivings4433 on September 11th, 2016, 8:20 pm, edited 1 time in total.
