Damaged Trailer

Well my Labor Day weekend turned a little sour after this little incident. I wont go into the details on how it happened because I still have to live with her!!! Anyway, I havent contacted my insurance yet but what do yall think, fix or replace. The pics dont really show how bad it is in real time. I would really like a new one but not sure what the insurance guys will say. It also has a little gel coat damage on the nose above the d ring where I missed it due to it being out of line so bad. This trailer is for my 2004 Pantera III. What does an new trailer cost now days, any ideas. I know you can add options that would increase the price but I may add some extras depending on what the insurance will do.What would yall try to do if it was yours?? Thanks in Advance!!

sell it as scrap metal and get a new one, better to be safe.

Be hard to get straight and it probably wouldnt look right. Frames probably totaled anyway. If you didnt want a totally new trailer, there are things you can salvage that would help out your replacement costs. Rims tires and fenders are a pretty good chunk of change, if you can talk your insurance company out of them.

Nah. You could do like was suggested to me by BC. Find a big rig trailer repair shop and get them to use a hydraulic press. Thats American steel so you know its good. Mine took 5 hours to position in the press…7 seconds of pressure…came back to within 1/2 inch of bow stop roller..$800. New trailer is around $5,900 i believe. Pretty sure thats what was on my invoice in a 14 model tandem with single axle brakes. I would hope they total it and pay the deductible and get a new one. Just what I would do but Im very picky

Friend went through this awhile ago though damage caused by third party whose insurance paid but what they pay depends on value of trailer at time of damage. They would not pay for a new trailer from BCB and coverage would only cover cost of a local trailer builder. Dont get me wrong, builder has an excellent rep and built him a nice trailer but its not a BCB trailer. Unless you got replacement coverage, you may have a hard time getting enough in claim to pay anything close to cost of brand new trailer from BC. What BCB sometimes gets at shop is used trailers in that might work for you. Sometimes folks wreak a boat on the water and trailer is fine. Check with them to see if they have anything “in the lot”. weeman,They have a single axle P4 that will either get you wet or could be used to assist in replacing yours with some adjustments. Switching parts, axles and more to get what you need on the ground.
