Just wanting some opinions on the bass cat vented motor cover. Pros and cons. Thinking about buying one to protect my new motor. Mostly curios of the cons if any? Thanks!

The only negative Ive found is that you have to take it off if you need to do something to the motor. But that is more of a negative for the mechanic and not me. I love mine!.

I have one on my Yamaha SHO and it does great to protect the motor from bugs while trailering at night. It doesnt seem to show any signs of chaffing the paint as it has a very soft liner inside. I like mine.Downside that I have found is I dont get to look at my pretty ProXS as often, but I keep it on mostly.If I fish alone I take it off since the main reason I have it is to protect the motor from my partners tungsten.Dave.

Mine is few months old and noticed rub marks on the corners of the engine.

I believe Ive said this before but, theyre worth their weight and cost. Saves a hell of lot aggravation as well as a lot of nicks and scrapes on that nice new ProXs cowling. Some give and takes …. rub marks or nicks and gouges, its not a cure all but have not seen a better alternative!!

Just picked one up today and installed it on our 250 xs for the trip home. Looks good, inside has a soft liner and the fit was great. Will be used mostly for trailering on long trips.
