Im in the process of possibly repowering my 06 Puma with either a 250 Mercury Prox XS or a Verado Pro over the winter and wondering what jackplate would be needed for the Verado Pro. Currently I have an 8″ Detwiler JP that was overhauled last winter that Ive had no issues with this season. From researching the newer Bass Cats that have the Verado option, they have either a 3 or 4″ jackplate that comes with them. Im not sure if its due to the added weight of the motor and keeping it forward or another issue. Additionally with the 3 or 4″ Atlas jackplates, do they still have the option to bolt power poles/talons on the side of the JP or am I stuck using a sandwich adapter? I do understand that it would be A LOT cheaper to stay with the Pro XS, but I like my boat a lot and this will probably be my last boat and Ive heard great things about the Verado. Thanks in advance.
