Over on the other board there is a post about top cap separation on a pretty new boat (not a basscat) and the guys tell him to check the screws every three months. Is that a common problem?

I dont know what brand theyre referring to but a neighbor had a problem with a Phoenix doing this. Had to go back to the factory 2x I believe. I may be wrong, maybe just the dealer but it was gone for a while both times. BassCat uses a well engineered process for securing the cap to the hull. No problems with them coming apart.Best hope you never have to separate them.

i had that issue on my Skeeter, back in those days (2000 model) they didnt bond the hulls. Not sure if they do now or not. My boat was 6 months old and I was able to lift the top cap about 6″ off the bottom cap, broke all the screws which I didnt know needed to be tightened almost monthly. WHAT A PAIN!!!!!! And you could feel the “looseness” in the ride, the whole boat would flex in rough water, it was aweful. One of the reasons I made the switch to a Cat…..now there is no turning back!

I knocked almost all the rivets loose on my p2. When in doubt trim it out!!!!
