how do you drill holes in the fiberglass?

When u mount graphs in console how do u cut with out chipping ? also drilling to mount screws with out chipping?2014 Puma FTD 250 XS

Tape is your friend. Tape over the area you are going to be cutting/drilling and then draw your lines. I used a fine tooth jig saw blade and did not have any chipping. I used a Dremel tool with an abrasive cut off blade to make the opening larger. I then used a drill in reverse to start the holes. No chipping and no problem. And your gonna use a lot of Dremel abrasive blades as they break easy, very easy.

A trick of the trade that I learned years ago when drilling holes for screws: drill a pilot hole of the correct size. Then use a screwdriver bit in a drill to bevel the edges of the hole (use the bit like it was a drill). When you put in the screws you will have no cracking.

Chamfer the area with a chamfer bit, then drill.

I use a dremel (dont know if its still available) looks almost like a hand held router and uses the type of bit as a zip saw – but made for fairly thin objects to cut the lines. I mounted my HDS 9 in the well today with a clearance to trolling motor pedal of a1/4inch . Using the reverse drill bit & countersinking the holes . It worked great.2014 Puma FTD 250 XS

I just installed 2 accon cleats on my boat and used 3m blue painters tape using a pilot hole then a 1/4 bit they turned out perfect no chips.
