Hi everyone,I will be on my way tomorrow to pick up my first bass cat ever. Its a 2001 Pantera III with a 200 Opti on it. Is there anything I should know about this boat? What kind of weight ?Is there specs list anywhere?
There are a lot of PIII owners on here as they are a great boat. You might be able to get the specs if you do a search in the Forum section. Just make sure you are in the general forum when do a search and not in a specific thread to get the best results. Same applies when doing a search in the FAQ area. Best advise I can give applies to all Bass Cats. Trim is everything and you dont need much. On blast off, tuck the motor in about as far as it will go and give it full throttle. As you get up on plane bump the trim up a little at a time in bumps. When getting used to the boat, keep the trim in check to get a feel for the boat. When you do start to trim, just do it a little at a time. As you do you will feel the boat free up as it gets up on pad. BCBs run flatter then other makes so dont over trim. Most run trim between bottom and 1/4 on gauge. But gauges vary and arent the best way to judge trim level. To begin with, trim up until boat is easy to steer and goes straight with little if any input. Thats a good place to start until you get used to the driving your PIII. Note if water is relatively flat, you can use more trim to get your speed. If water is rougher, 2 waves and above, trim down to keep nose in the water a bit for a smoother ride. If you are going right along and the boat starts get to chine walking, dont back off the throttle, just trim down a little until hull settles down and then you can trim up again to gain speed.Get yourself a full length transom saver if boat doesnt come with one. Trailing should be easy, BCB builds their own trailers and they ride great with good brakes.Oh, forgot one extremely important thing. Welcome to the family! We are a unique group and are always willing to help a BCB brother/sister out. Good luck and enjoy. PS – We like pictures! When you get her home, make sure to post some. Instructions for posting pictures can be found at the top of this page.
Hi five to the new papa! welcome to the family, you will LOVE your Cat. I have a23yr old P2, it is just as fast to day as it was on day one. the best tip is to learn to drive by the seat of your pants the boat will tell you what it wants with the given water conditions.

Welcome to here !! — Were always glad to gain a newbie . — Best advice on your new ride is to TAKE YOUR TIME learning to drive it FAST . — Your grandmother could drive it at 45 – 50 , but when you want to push it to the limit , it takes a bit of finesse that only time in the seat will teach you . — Good threads in here on ” CHINE WALK ” as well . — Well worth reading , and very informative . — Enjoy your new ride my brother , and again , welcome to the family . — God Bless , and have a happy Easter . — Hoss
I to am a newbie . Have been a board member for 3 or for months know. Not to say I purchased a 88 caracal in 91 had it all these yrs. Just sold it today. She was mint. But I purchaced a 2013 p2 bac in jan. Definitely a different. Beast. The post on chine walking has definitely helped me. I kno its natural habit to back out of the throttle but dnt. Ease the trim down and little and it will stablize . Cats definitely dont like alot of trim. So my words of advice. Take ur time. Be extremely careful.enjoy ur new kitty. Always wear a good quality pfd With the kill switch hooked up. Welcome to the cat family.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
I just bought an 02 PIII at the first of the year. Awesome boats. Ride is great, fishes great. Mine has a 200 Opti as well. Im running a 25 fury right now but it could realistically use a 24. Ive ran with full tanks loaded down with just me 71.8. I havent quite figured out the driving part yet! Good luck and lets see some pics!
