After a relationship of 30 years last night brought the end to a life of a wonderful man, loving Husband and Father that I have come to know like a brother. At 9:30 PM last night, March 31, 2014 Gary W. Gould gave in to his battle with cancer. Gary did not loose a struggle, or battle to cancer as he was no looser. As for no mention by ourselves and others of his challenge, many here were honoring his families wishes that privacy be respected. Gary didnt want anyone to know. He didnt want the endless flow of well wishing and support. He knew he had all of our support without mention. Thus this remained on the down low till the end. Doug, Ward, Kevin and many more who visit here all knew of his illness.Gary is survived by wife Judy, daughter Tracy (Doug), and their three (3 sons) children. Also a grandson Hunter Gould (Brian) of Conway, AR. He is also survived by his father in Texas. He now joins on one son Brian Gould taken in an auto accident on Thanksgiving Eve appx. ten years ago. This year at the Invitational some wondered where the big tall goober was at the registration this year. This is also the reason that press releases and invitational results did not go right up on line this year after the event. You see we did not replace Gary yet, we only had someone filling in for him. Both we and his spouse (Judy) felt that Gary was pressing his ending till the we could all put the Owners Invitational in the books. We did that last Saturday and almost 48 hours later Garys struggles ended. He will be in a much better place. We worked hand in hand since the mid 1980s on brochures, the development of the internet in the 1990s and more than most anyone can imagine. The transition from four and five color formats to digital and gosh we just cant imagine what all we have done in our tenure together. Bassmaster advertisements, sponsorship packets, every advertisement since the late 1980s and pretty much every internet advertisement, logo, banner and more was either designed, finished or cleaned up by Gary. It is hard to remember things before Gary or everything we have done. Our prayers and thoughts for all of his friends and family.Rick Pierce Last edited by Bass Cat Boats on April 2nd, 2014, 1:31 pm, edited 4 times in total.
I would never have bought a Cat had it not been for Gary and Judy. I had been looking at several boats and went in H2O and Judy talked my wife into a Bass Cat before Gary got a chance to even talk to me. Gary and Matt helped me understand the Bass Cat family while Judy talked with my wife. I always loved talking to Gary. He is in a much better place and I pray that God wraps his arms around Judy and the family!Jon
Sorry for your loss and prayers sent for his family and friends.
Sorry to hear this. Prayers sent for family and friends.
Sorry for his familys loss and the BCB familys loss
For the record, GW didnt want anyone worrying about them instead of having a good Invitational trip. That was Gary and Judys call. I would have told all yall sooner that his health was failing, but they didnt want the doting and sympathy created by that part of the process of life. Instead they wanted the love and togetherness of a very tight family of friends. Tracy and Doug have three sons, Brian had one son, now pretty much grown, and GW and Judy are very proud of all their grandchildren. They suffered the loss of one of their children, and in reality all it did was make them both stronger and more willing to love and appreciate life in general. We had a special relationship, also like brothers, and thank goodness Judy and Tracy and my family also have that, always have. I will miss Gary more than words can say, but Im so glad he is no longer suffering, and now hes with Brian, and forever in our memories. Onefish, we love ya buddy ! God now has the best design man he ever created in his arms, Thank you Lord Jesus for blessing us with Gary. His wit, smile, talent, and beaming personality will be forever in our hearts.
I am very sorry to hear this. I worked with Gary several times through the years and he was always a joy to be around. He was a great person and I reply to this with a heavy heart. My prayers are with his family and Bass Cat because I know how close they all are. He will be missed.
May God Bless Gary and all his loved ones…..A true gentleman….
Gary, was a great guy, who became a personal friend to me, and we shared many personal issues over the years, not for publication here. Every time I talked with Gary, I came away uplifted, and feeling like a better person. Gary had that effect on people. Gary was a lot like Rick Pierce, in that if he told you something, you didnt need to write it down, or send a reminder. Garys word was all that was needed. Heaven is a richer place now–Gary is there. My prayers and sympathies to his family, and the FAMILY—I think I will go and find a quiet place, and remember Gary—TEARS
My condolences to his family & friends.13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods
