I hope you all can help. Ive been looking to get into a basscat for a few months now. I went and visted the Sacramento Expo during a big outdoor show about 2 months ago and I was finally able to sit in a Basscat for the first time only to leave dissapointed. I sat in a 2012 or 2013 P2 and a 2014 or 2015 Cougar. First off, I loved both boats. The problem is im 69″!! I had to completely rule out the Cougar within the first second of sitting at the helm. There is zero positioning of my legs that prevent my shins from digging into the bottom of the console. The P2 actually had more room to my suprise. There is a “chance” i could make it work with a P2 but its still far from ideal for me. My question is this. How do the other models (Puma, P4, Jag, etc) allow for cockpit space? Does anybody know? do any of them have more room than the P2 because the Cougar certainly does not. I emailed Basscat directly but never received a response. My price range for a boat puts me in the 2005-2010 year models roughly.Being tall my shins and knees have to ride in front of the console. I cant get under the console so having “lots of leg room” underneath does nothing for me. I need space between the console and seat. Thanks again! I know im in the extreme minority on this topic but this will most likely keep me out of a Cat. Thanks,Steve
First Ive heard of this one, I got a friend that runs a 2015 Cougar and hes 66″ or so, maybe a little more … no problem?
Im not sure if a Puma FTD is any different but David Kilgore runs one and they kept saying he was the tallest man that has ever fished a Bassmaster Classic. Man Id love to talk to David. Just did some research on him and hes also 69″. Not sure how he does it…Thanks for the responses!Steve
I would suggest you call Bass Cat Boats, at 1-870-481-5135. Ask for Rick, tell them who you are and what you want and you want to buy one of their boats but you need a tall person question answered. I bet you will hear from Rick Pierce, may have to call you back, but I bet you talk to him.

Thank you for posting Davids boat. Just got off the phone with him! Nice guy and very informative!! Does anybody know if there is a difference between the Cougar FTD console/leg space and the Puma FTD console/leg space?Really appreciate it!Steve
I have an 07 Puma and there is plenty of space for tall guys , Im 66″, I to ruled out the Cougars due to the shins!
Im glad he was able to share some insight. Most fishermen are good guys but it seems like our BassCat family goes a step beyond.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
