Front wires behind trolling motor plug plate.

I took the cover off and was looking at the wiring. I see the wire harness and notice that there is two orange wires with black plugs attached to a heavier gauge red wire( I presume a hot wire) these two wires are butt connected together attached to the red wire with the loose ends come back together (with black plugs in middle) to a single butt connector. Then at this connection my electronics red wire is attached. The ground wire for the electronics is attached to the heavier black wire in the harness with a butt connection. My question is does this sound like the correct way and what are those two plugs for on the orange wires? Thanks John
