I just purchased a 2009 Sabre. I noticed the keel/pad of the boat is touching the middle roller on the trailer (the one on the crossmember close to the axle). I am thinking this roller is just for loading, and the boat should sit above the roller when it is on the bunks. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Pictures would be useful and yes, the rear roller is for loading and the boat should be farther forward on the trailer.

I am not picking the boat up for about another week, so I do not have a photo. I am not speaking of the rear roller, I am speaking of the one on the cross member located in the center of the trailer.

There should be no tension on that roller and without knowing the situation its hard to speculate. It is not a common character between Sabres. We have seen roller tabs that squeezed higher and the amount of pressure is our question. The tab holes could be cut to drop the roller slightly if the tolerance is a production matter. If there is something else its hard to say? We just worked on a mid 2000s model Pantera that the customer had built his own bunks and replaced them without a pattern. His axles had contacted the hull due to tolerances changing and his dropping the boat lower. It may be our fault, it could be an aging issue and flex, and it could be someone else we dont know of.

I think I will start with installing new bunks. They are likely the originals, so it is probably time for new ones. I will call for a quote.

My original post may be confusing. I will ask it a different way.If you have 2009 or so Sabre, how much clearance do you have between the center roller (the one close to the axle) and the bottom of the boat (the pad/keel)? I would assume this should be an inch or two, and that the roller is only meant to be used when loading the boat. I am not speaking of the rear roller, but the one in the center of the trailer. My trailer also has a “slide” on the front cross member (no issue there).

I have 2008 Sabre with a dual axle trailer. All my cross beams have the slide and are about 2.5 to 3.5 inches from the keel. The only rollers that I have are located at the bow.Enjoy your new ride!!
