FINALLY ABLE TO GET BOAT OUT OF GARAGE HAD 61 DEGREE BLUE SKYS AND WATER TEMP OF 46.8 NO FISH TODAY BUT GOT TO RUN THE BOAT FOR THE FIRST TIME. GONNA TRY AND GET OUT AS MUCH TIME AS POSSIBLE RUNNING IT, NOT USED TO THE HYDROLIC JACK PLATE HOLE SHOT WAS DIFFUCLT BUT FINNALY FIGURED IT OUT NOW TO CHANGE THE 27 FURY FOR THE 26 FURY AND SEE HOW THAT FEELS. WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO RUN THE O I WITH VERY LITTLE ISSUES. IF ANY ONE HAS A THOUGHT ON WHAT I SHOULD DO PLEASE CHIME IN MY LAST BASS CAT WAS A 2000 SABRE WITH 150 NOW ITS A EYRA WITH A 250, SO ADVICE WILL BE WELCOME.
Nice looking boat. Advice………..keep it trimmed down until you get it figured out. Alot of difference between a 150 Sabre and a 250 Eyra!
I have owned 2 Eyras in the past year and my advice would be this. With your setup and 2 poles if you arent in some crazy elevation drop to a 25 fury. I have 26 and hole shot is difficult with full load and livewells. They are coming from the factory with a 25 now if you have poles on them. As far as driving start trimmed all the way down get on pad gas it until you can no more speed, bump trim until you gain no more speed, (this will allow you to feel the boats hull free a little at a time. then bump trim a little more. If you are running the boat correctly it should drive easy all the way up to 70-72. At top performance it will still be fairly easy to drive just requires more steering play small adjustmaents with the wheel. When running at top any you will see little to no rooster tail this means your prop is hooked up. Take it slow and biggest thing is dont over trim.
THANK YOU FOR THE INFO. DO YOU FIND IT EASIER TO START THE HYDRYLIC JACK PLATE AT CENTER OR A LITTLE LOWER? ALSO I HAVE A 26 FURY IM GOING TO TRY THIS WEEKEND AND SEE HOW IT RUNS. I LIVE AT SEA LEVEL BUT WONDER WHAT THE DIFFENCE IS GOING TO BE IN TEXAS?

The boat will be much easier to handle at first if you put more gear in the front compartments, and hole shot will improve. At full down position on the plate the boat loses any steering tension to the left and is slightly more difficult to keep on pad. About 2 inches up on the plate gives a little steering torque and makes it easier to control chine above 70. I run the 26 prop in the summer in Louisiana with no hole shot issue. I think on my boat the 25 would put the rpms too high.
Theres not enough elevation change in texas for you to worry about elevation. The only change will be in temperature and humidity which can and will effect your engines performance. From the pictures above of your boat and considering your driving abilities at this time, a 25 Fury would likely be your best bet.
Blakesfav, not sure if you run dual poles or not but a 25 will not push RPM limits even in the winter if you run a moderate load. I run a heavy boat all heavy tools go under seats, heavy plastics in rear driver compatment, spare prop, life jackets, throw cushion up front starboard locker with some hardbaits. Then hard baits and some plastics center storage. The Eyra to me is more sensitive to weight distribution then any other of the 20 boats. In order to learn how to drive the boat I agree load the front down once you get comfortable adjust the load and achieve the boats true performance. I run an atlas and with my weight configuration I run it at about 4 to 5 on gauge and achieve upper 70s consitantly with a partner. You will here about guys running 82-84 but i call BS kinda like some of the numbers you see out of the new Carcails.
I have a 3 blade 25 as a spare for my sabre dont know if its a trophy or a tempest I have 1 4 blade and 1 3blade prop for the sabre would the 25 3 blade work as a test prop on the 250 until I can either buy a 25 fury or trade for one. also I want to buy another hub for the 26 parts shows 1 that should fit and its a mercury is that the best way to go or is there something thats better for what im using. just some back ground on myself I grew up at lake Tahoe running boats out of grandpas boat harbor joined coast guard at 18 did 4 years years and have always been a mechanic on anything I could take apart and put back together. ive bought my sabre brand new and it still runs like day 1 and I want this one to last me 15 years everthing ive everlearned has been from asking questions so I am glad to be able to ask bass cat owners who have many years running these bigger and faster boats questions so if some of my questions seem basic im sorry but if you have questions about a Chrysler, dodge, jeep I can help been working on them since 1992 for the dealer. all the help from you and the previous owner has been truly helpful im sure that when I get to texas I will have a note pad full of questions about everthing from the hds 8 and 10 to the type of cleaner for the seats so if you see a question on a 2012 eyra please keep responding it does help
Every one of these is a bit different, but I spent a lot of time setting mine up and the 26 is my best summer option. I think the 25 would be fine in the worst part of the summer but I still see 6100 plus with the 26, so Ive never tried the 25. The 27 turns 6100 in winter so it seems to work out well. I have dual poles and dual consoles ( I should say “had” since I just sold it). I agree that the Eyra is very weight sensitive. True speeds on tournament mornings are indeed in the 78 range. Ive made a few slightly current or wind aided winter passes in the 82 range unloaded with the 27 prop but that speed is not reproducible with a load or non ideal conditions.
